See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

My dad had an increase in anxiety and had to have his fentanyl upped, but he is still on track to be extubated as soon as tomorrow, so that's good.

Less good is that my aunt, his older sister, super wants to be the boss of everything WRT notifications of friends and family and who and how and it is starting to make me stabby. I am the designated family liaison, you are not, and NO, I'm not going to spend half my day sending group texts to 150 of his fellow Rotarians to update them on every time he burps because I STILL HAVE A FUCKING JOB.

Only I said it waaaaaaaay more diplomatically than that, and immediately afterward my mom called me to say, "You are so good, that was masterful." I haven't spent the last decade working for tunnel-visioned heart surgeons for nothing, Mom, but, truthfully, the validation is very comforting.

I can't believe my mom spent 13 years married to and intimately involved with this family. They're not necessarily bad people per se, but they are definitely nuts, and definitely conspiring to nuttify me (except one weirdo bookish cousin whom I bonded with very young and am re-bonding with now, and that is lovely and the only saving grace of having to manage all this).

meara-ing:

Jesse--go biscuits. Choose biscuits.

-t: Yay advance oatmeal planning!

shrift: Yay understanding bosses who don't want to be how they make you quit!

sj: Yay cocktails!

Matt: Sympathy pangs--not that I have anything as technically complicated as what you're dealing with, but I'm definitely spending twice as long wrestling with tech issues that would be trivial if I were at my desktop at work but are now 8-dimensional nightmares.

Everyone else: I am full of martini and can't be coherent, but I love each and every one of you so desperately much.

Thrive to spite them

Well.. I went and mixed up my glass with Matthew's and realized I'd been drinking from his for a good 30 mins. So I guess I don't have to keep him at arms length. Although I have slept better the last couple of nights, no waking up with an elbow in my head.

I'm so glad you got good news. Sad you are quarantined and cannot visit, but I'm glad you and your dad have lots of support.

I talked to my oldest friend tonight, which was lovely. She's super busy organizing farmers in Massachusetts, but safely holed up in an old farmhouse on Cape Cod.

Today I went to the Catholic church around the corner, which is open from 9-3 4 days/week, and lit some candles. It's gonna be a hard road, we're gonna need some light.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

The first person in my office building is out with flu like symptoms. I got the email late yesterday afternoon. sigh.

Good morning board. Not sure what I heard on the NPR news this morning in my not yet wakefulness or what I dreamt last night, but today already feels heavy.

Our wings are not tired.

Good morning. I forwarded my phones to my cell so I could be a lazy slug on the couch for a bit longer. My doctors and staffs are wearing me out.

good lord and when I send my email to my department informing them of the attendance with 1 out sick, my co-worker asks who it is.

Yeah, I cannot tell you that. We are HR, she should understand HIPAA. Jesusita.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Totally forgot that my boss is buying us all lunch this week (doordash no contact delivery to our homes, magic!) and today is my turn. Oatmeal will be for dinner...

That's fun, t!!

I had some kind of maybe gallbladder attack last night? Woke up in the middle of the night feeling like I was being stabbed. Luckily it only lasted for maybe 10 minutes but I was like "aww crap please don't make me have to go to an ER or have surgery, body! Not now!"

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

The lakefront and parks in Chicago are now closed because too many people were still gathering.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

The National Cathedral found 5,000 face masks they'd bought in 2006. They checked with CDC and the masks are still good, so the Cathedral is donating them. 5,000 to Georgetown Hospital, 2,000 to Children's.
