"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

MA schools will now be closed until at least the first week of May.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

CA too. So...that's going to be interesting. On top of which, we don't know what's going to happen with any summer camps at the moment. So, it's just a wild frontier of no structure for Matilda right now.

msbelle, Matilda has offered her bed. She doesn't mind sleeping on the couch. But my body is adapting to sleeping on the couch (somewhat), so I'd rather not add another level of disruption. If my back starts hurting though I'll ask for a switch.

Spent an hour talking to the parent of one of Matilda's friends about how to finesse transfers and bad school assignments in SFUSD. It's going to be complicated and you have to play chicken with the school year willing to start at one place and pull out after a couple weeks to jump on an open slot. Just another massive stressor.

Same here for ltc. She's not very happy with the "evil virus". Best of luck figuring out the school situation for Matilda.

Our wings are not tired.

Laura hugs would be awesome right about now.

After this has passed there has to be some serious catching up on hugs!

I can't even imagine with the kids! All day I see lots of them coming and going to the park across the street. It is theoretically closed, but has about 10 outside parking spaces and lots of people come on bikes or golf carts. The few times I have left the house there have been far fewer cars, and a lot more kids on bikes or playing ball in the street.

Thrive to spite them

I have some ear protection ear muff things that are used for construction work . I can't lay down comfortably in them and they make my ears sweaty after awhile. My computer headset does an ok job.

It's been a fairly chill day today. I'm on tap to make dinner and I kinda don't want to but I will but we just ate lunch 3 hour ago so I'm going to push dinner closer to my preferred time.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I saw photos of one local playground where they'd used yellow tape to close off the swings and other equipment. And people seemed to be out and about (not today - it's cold and gray and rainy) so one guy had a sound system on top of his car and was driving down near the parks and such where there were crowds and sending out his amplified message to go home.

I'm tentatively scheduled to be put On Call next week, and I'm about to have a conversation with my manager that essentially boils down to, "Do you want me to quit? Because that's how you get me to quit."

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Good luck with that, shrift

I am trying knock off early because I worked late yesterday and I'm super tired but I can't stop checking my email just in case. Sigh.

My manager is on it, thankfully.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

It was announced via e-mail that, starting tomorrow, they will be screening everyone who comes into our building. To that end, only 3 entrances will be open, which will mean I have to walk further to get into work.
