Laura hugs would be awesome right about now.
After this has passed there has to be some serious catching up on hugs!
I can't even imagine with the kids! All day I see lots of them coming and going to the park across the street. It is theoretically closed, but has about 10 outside parking spaces and lots of people come on bikes or golf carts. The few times I have left the house there have been far fewer cars, and a lot more kids on bikes or playing ball in the street.
I have some ear protection ear muff things that are used for construction work . I can't lay down comfortably in them and they make my ears sweaty after awhile. My computer headset does an ok job.
It's been a fairly chill day today. I'm on tap to make dinner and I kinda don't want to but I will but we just ate lunch 3 hour ago so I'm going to push dinner closer to my preferred time.
I saw photos of one local playground where they'd used yellow tape to close off the swings and other equipment. And people seemed to be out and about (not today - it's cold and gray and rainy) so one guy had a sound system on top of his car and was driving down near the parks and such where there were crowds and sending out his amplified message to go home.
I'm tentatively scheduled to be put On Call next week, and I'm about to have a conversation with my manager that essentially boils down to, "Do you want me to quit? Because that's how you get me to quit."
Good luck with that, shrift
I am trying knock off early because I worked late yesterday and I'm super tired but I can't stop checking my email just in case. Sigh.
My manager is on it, thankfully.
Timelies all!
It was announced via e-mail that, starting tomorrow, they will be screening everyone who comes into our building. To that end, only 3 entrances will be open, which will mean I have to walk further to get into work.
Yay JZ's Dad!
Today I found out that a seemingly simple change to some pie chart graphics turns out to be deceptively difficult and time-consuming to make. The cynic in me thinks that makes it MUCH more likely the client will love that approach the best and want it applied to hundreds and hundreds of documents.
Man, I feel lucky.
My job? Taking WFH requirements seriously and insisting on distancing for those still at the office!
My city? Establishing stay-at-home policies and shutting down non-essential facilities!
Local grocery stores? Limiting number of people inside, setting up distance markers and cough shields at the register!
Local restaurants? Closing dining areas and improving takeout options even before it's required!
And then I read reports about the rest of the country and I'm like, uhhhh....
Anyway, here's a linkspam of Good Stuff I sent to my sisters family:

Stay safe!
I went to the drug store earlier today to pick up a prescription. There were a somewhat surprising number of people around. Trader Joe's is still only letting a few in at a time, so there was a line, even at 11:30AM.
My roommate's COVID test came back negative, so she's sick with something else. Which is kind of a bummer, because at least if it was COVID she wouldn't still have to worry about getting it and getting even sicker?!
I got way more done today than the past week or so (...which was still not that much. but.)
