All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Can't they just pay them not to work?

They're doing that for that for the actors so, yes. If we end up with more restrictions they'll have to.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

I just got an email that the San Francisco Public Library is closing until March 31st, which at this point I was expecting.

Yup, but OTOH several branches, along with a bunch of rec centers around the City, will be open to provide emergency day care for the children of hospital workers, disaster relief workers and low-income families impacted by all the closures. 8-6, 3 meals a day, homework and crafts and such in spaces big enough to allow for social distancing. And the school district is handing out free breakfast and lunch to anyone 18 and under within city limits, public school student or no.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Cincinnati YMCA has cancelled all their usual activities, and they're using a bunch of their facilities for child care for hospital workers.

I've got a friend who lives in rural Georgia, and their school district is letting parents request that the school bus drivers deliver their kids' school lunches to their bus stops. Which keeps the kids fed, and also means that the bus drivers won't be on unpaid leave.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Cindy, so much ~ma to you.

Go Jesse!

All of my work travel has been cancelled, with the exception of 1 essential trip to Princeton next week. Though that could be cancelled by Monday afternoon. We had to make the call to postpone our industry conference next month, but the city of Indianapolis has been very accommodating.

PA residents are eligible for a library card at the Free Philadelphia Library. It's got a huge selection of online material--much better than what's available at the libraries in my part of the state.

The restaurant has been busier than normal--not sure if it's been mostly takeout. MedicGuy is preparing to be mandated to work additional shifts, and I'm here praying that my parents don't get it.

Keeping all of the Buffistas business owners and those who work in industries where you can't work from home in my thoughts.

Aw, damn. My Christmas gift for my parents was tickets to a Symphony concert at the end of this month. Retroactive gifting fail.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Maria, I've been meaning to ask you how your relatives in Italy are doing?

What is even happening?

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse.

It's a shame Natter isn't closer to turning over.

What is even happening?

Oh a whole bunch of you posted while I was catching up.

Maria, I echo sj's question.

aurelia, one of my older son's gifts to his GF was Red Sox tickets early in the season. Will the symphony honor it later? That is, are they shutting down for now?
