Solano County is closing schools for 2 weeks and will reassess then. This doesn't affect me directly, but I'm glad to see it. I imagine a lot of my coworkers will wfh whatever the company policy is while their kids are home.

Timelies all!
The schools here are closed for the next two weeks, which means no PEP for Mr. S. The teacher sent home a packet of activities to do with the kids, which is going to be interesting for us.
Meanwhile, Gary's work is doing a test of work from home on Monday and Tuesday. I hope the weather's good, so the nanny can take Mr. S out to play. Otherwise, I don't know how much work will get done.
And of course, I can't WFH.
sj, if it's any comfort, I'd think there's a good chance the people who pack deliveries will be wearing gloves ... I've noticed some doing so. And washing whatever comes in can't hurt (except maybe toilet paper).
With people getting into the habit of washing their hands, maybe handshaking coming back will be more hygienic. Or we could take up the tradition of bowing. That would avoid the "shake or not" dilemma that sometimes comes up (for me, the last time was with an Orthodox rabbi ... I wasn't sure if he would shake hands with a woman).
E called on Skype, we've been trying to do that more. I was in the stock room and explained I was at work and I'll call him tonight. He said he doesn't have school until April 14. He is in Manassas. I am only slightly worried about him and my brother.
I need to call my brother and talk about mom and dad. I am taking a break from moving boxes because it is slow. So tired
It's my day off so I took the dog for a lovely hike in the woods and sat down to figure out my WFH situation. Turns out my Windows machine won't work for that at all, so I bit the bullet and bought a new laptop, but it won't arrive until Wednesday at the earliest. I'm told my office is doing a WFH trial on Thursday, which is later than I would have expected but we are slow.
Which is no big deal, except I have a sewer line backup in my bathtub, and had to call 3 plumbers to find someone who would come out this afternoon. Wish me luck! If I can't wash my hands, I can't stay in this house. And I don't want to move in with my sister because she has pulmonary issues and I fear contaminating her at some point.
Oh, and we've cancelled our ski trip next week. SIGH.
The governor of PA just closed schools till March 30, and our county library system is closed till then starting tomorrow. I managed to pick up the book I had on hold, yay.
The bakery was more than normally busy for a Friday this morning, but it was a nice day and people were buying in bulk a lot of the time (to freeze, I guess). The atmosphere on the street seemed to be "first day of a holiday." Lots of moms out with tribes of little kids, which defeats the purpose of social distancing, even if kids aren't very susceptible.
One supermarket was out of milk until Sunday, another had plenty of milk, but not a lot of frozen anything. And the Beer Mill, the state package store right next door, is doing land office business.
You know, this documentation might be as important as our 9/11 thread. But slower.
I also have to hunker down and complete my course this weekend.
And I was sort of dumb with my instacart order last night. I think I still need more meat. But I have a lot of tuna!
My mom does not handle the whole "No Family Dinners For Now, You're Vulnerable And I Don't Want To Kill You" very well. She might be a nurse over 60 who is working with the elderly, but she's still my mother.
I am going out to eat. My head hurts, but I think it is from wearing my glasses all day at the computer (I only need them for distance.) and holding stress in my neck.
Canvassing has been switch to phone banking for Sunday - and still no word on what work is going to look like next week.
ION - someone on my block was just playing a saxophone out on their front porch, not greatly, but charming.
