And in TRAGIC news...I went to Aldi this morning at 9 to get their cheese Advent calendar, which was available in stores this morning. They had already sold out by 9 a.m., and I missed getting one by about 15 damn minutes. Curse my need for breakfast.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I wanted to vicariously enjoy your Aldi cheese Advent calendar
I suppose I can't spend my workday parsing election news, but I really want to figure out what the Proposition results mean and why the voter turnout numbers I saw this morning were so weird (38% in California, 50% in Solano County and 31% in Napa? I couldn't tell on my phone if that might be due to the % of precincts reporting or actually be the turnout, tbh)
Three states voted to expand Medicaid too.
And Scott Walker lost in Wisconsin ... which leaves me wondering how the Foxconn deal will go.
Foxconn wasn't going very well already.
It is far less sexy, but state house focus for the next two years has really got to be the focus of anyone who wants to put money and time towards things. The ground that can be won before 2020 by any states increasing voter participation will be really big. Things like Prop 4 in FL and the Medicaid expansions are really really good. I plan to be a burr in the side of my State Sen and Rep. My cousin who works closely with the St legislature and another friend who does Ed stuff with them will be my contacts for what legislation issues to amplify. I'm gonna try to ignore federal stuff for a bit.

Including Utah, home of Help the Poor? That's the Church's Job!
Happy about Kim Davis being defeated by a man she would not issue a marriage license to!
David Ermold lost the Democratic primary to the eventual winner Caudill, but hey, still a Democrat who's promised to treat all applicants the same.
For Utah, I saw an item about one of the state senators - since they were voting on whether to legalize medical marijuana - thought it would be a good idea to know what it was about. (Seemingly no one in the state senate had ever tried it.) So he had a friend drive him to Las Vegas where he bought a package of cannabis gummies and tried one ... said it (1) didn't taste very good and (2) he didn't feel much effect from it. I guess he gets points for at least having an idea of what he would be voting on.
Heh. That is notoriously what everyone says the first time, while they are seeming very stoned to everyone around them.
It's more like a Big Blue Splash, but I'll take it. News from NH is that it turned out Very Blue, and Maine now has a Dem governor.
