Coding and Sleeping

Having my Senator, McCaskill, lose is pretty hard. However, the dems got the house, I didn't think they had a chance at the Senate so that's not a disappointment, and Kobach lost which is awesome. I may live in Missouri, but I feel more connected to Kansas (where I grew up and where my taxes go) so Kobach's defeat is pretty exciting for me.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Also, Nashville passed an amendment that will create a community oversight board for our police department, which is a huge win locally and very much needed. So I'm excited about that.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I wanted a massive blue wave, but I wasn't expecting it the way I was expecting Hillary Clinton to win in 2016. So I'm good today. Which is a nice surprise.

Same.

And my state reaffirmed transgender rights by 68%, which is encouraging.

I too am sad but not surprised. My optimism took a real beating these past couple years...

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

And in TRAGIC news...I went to Aldi this morning at 9 to get their cheese Advent calendar, which was available in stores this morning. They had already sold out by 9 a.m., and I missed getting one by about 15 damn minutes. Curse my need for breakfast.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I wanted to vicariously enjoy your Aldi cheese Advent calendar

I suppose I can't spend my workday parsing election news, but I really want to figure out what the Proposition results mean and why the voter turnout numbers I saw this morning were so weird (38% in California, 50% in Solano County and 31% in Napa? I couldn't tell on my phone if that might be due to the % of precincts reporting or actually be the turnout, tbh)

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Three states voted to expand Medicaid too.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

And Scott Walker lost in Wisconsin ... which leaves me wondering how the Foxconn deal will go.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Foxconn wasn't going very well already.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

It is far less sexy, but state house focus for the next two years has really got to be the focus of anyone who wants to put money and time towards things. The ground that can be won before 2020 by any states increasing voter participation will be really big. Things like Prop 4 in FL and the Medicaid expansions are really really good. I plan to be a burr in the side of my State Sen and Rep. My cousin who works closely with the St legislature and another friend who does Ed stuff with them will be my contacts for what legislation issues to amplify. I'm gonna try to ignore federal stuff for a bit.
