Note for history: Trump has been pardoning corrupt government officials and businessmen this week.
I'm not an Illinois resident anymore, but I can't imagine clemency for Blagojevich is going to be a... popular decision.

Is that true?
I'm not sure. The argument I've heard is that accepting a pardon is admission of guilt, it's just the punishment/consequences that get handwaved away. If you've already admitted guilt, you can't invoke protection against incriminating yourself regarding those charges if called as a witness in someone else's trial.

Not a lawyer, but I don't think that's true. There are plenty of cases where someone innocent has been wrongfully convicted and imprisoned and has then been pardoned, essentially because they aren't guilty. Blagojevich got clemency, which means his sentence is terminated, but he was not pardoned.

Also even if that was true it would only apply to things that would incriminate them that they had already been convicted of, not anything new they do or did, or anything they hadn't already been caught for or charged with?
