Bunch of wanna blessed-bes. Nowadays every girl with a henna tattoo and a spice rack thinks she's a sister to the dark ones.

The status is NOT quo.

My pies are almost always ugly, but they are always tasty! I just call it "looking homemade."

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I have recently learned that spreading oozing cookies usually means the oven temperature is too high.

My pie isn't gorgeous, but it's good enough. Dog is very anxious about all this activity.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

I sent (nice, polite, short yet informative) emails asking my TAs who are not using bcc to consider using bcc when emailing the entire class. Got a response back saying that while my intention may be good, it is not an acceptable request in academia-land. Slightly confused about university email netiquette, because 1. class' secretary is superb in using bcc, and 2. not using bcc in mass emails doesn't seem to me like an acceptable procedure, not in 2019.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Restless sleep this morning, ending up with a frustrating dream about trying to get past TSA who were acting nasty and frustrating. Not a nightmare (I just plain wake up from those before they go on too long) but one that leaves you angry at imaginary people.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Holiday ~ma to all the Buffistas!

WOOHOO for mac getting an apartment!

Atropa insent

I'm not working, I'm not cooking, I'm not bringing food anywhere, I'm not cleaning the house, I'm not having company, I ain't doing nothin' for nobody but me today, and I am by jeebus thankful for it. Alamo Drafthouse is serving turkey dinner at the movies today and my friend invited me to go see Knives Out with her and her family, and that's what I'm doing today.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Stomach~ma to all the teacups, and especially restful sleep~ma to sj. I'm so sorry; your entire family badly needs a break.

All available digits crossed for Mac's apartment hunt!

Hec and I are caffeinated and I've cleared away just enough counter space to assemble spanakopita triangles for hors d'oeuvres today and tomorrow. The first time I did them they were a mess, but last time (about a year ago) I got in a nice groove and zipped through a very large batch in record time, like the Greek version of those grannies you see in the back of Chinese restaurants gossiping and assembling trays of perfect dumplings without ever even looking at their hands. I really hope I hit that groove again, though at least they'll taste good even if they look like a mess.

I'm kind of stunned at how not-stressed and non-despairing I am at work, now that my beloved manager is in remission and back at work and diligently protecting her admins' well-being and workloads. It's deeply frowned upon here for underlings to give holiday presents to their superiors, but I just want to shower her with *all* the gifts. Maybe a present for her 8-year-old instead of her? It's always good to get a present for someone's kid, isn't it?

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Sanity check: how unreasonable is it for me to ask my stepdad not to bath in a cologne that triggers my asthma on the holidays?

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Not at all unreasonable. On any day.
