I'm not working, I'm not cooking, I'm not bringing food anywhere, I'm not cleaning the house, I'm not having company, I ain't doing nothin' for nobody but me today, and I am by jeebus thankful for it. Alamo Drafthouse is serving turkey dinner at the movies today and my friend invited me to go see Knives Out with her and her family, and that's what I'm doing today.
Stomach~ma to all the teacups, and especially restful sleep~ma to sj. I'm so sorry; your entire family badly needs a break.
All available digits crossed for Mac's apartment hunt!
Hec and I are caffeinated and I've cleared away just enough counter space to assemble spanakopita triangles for hors d'oeuvres today and tomorrow. The first time I did them they were a mess, but last time (about a year ago) I got in a nice groove and zipped through a very large batch in record time, like the Greek version of those grannies you see in the back of Chinese restaurants gossiping and assembling trays of perfect dumplings without ever even looking at their hands. I really hope I hit that groove again, though at least they'll taste good even if they look like a mess.
I'm kind of stunned at how not-stressed and non-despairing I am at work, now that my beloved manager is in remission and back at work and diligently protecting her admins' well-being and workloads. It's deeply frowned upon here for underlings to give holiday presents to their superiors, but I just want to shower her with *all* the gifts. Maybe a present for her 8-year-old instead of her? It's always good to get a present for someone's kid, isn't it?
Zen that sounds lovely. Enjoy your day.
Sanity check: how unreasonable is it for me to ask my stepdad not to bath in a cologne that triggers my asthma on the holidays?
Not at all unreasonable. On any day.
Thanks Dana, no matter how many times I ask it never happens and I'm already dealing with a very low amount of spoons. I'm so angry right now.
I realize having a very dramatic asthma attack would not be good for you, but I'd be so tempted. Maybe you could fake one.
Totally reasonable, sj! That's shitty.
JZ, I know this is what "they" always say, but I bet your manager would really appreciate a nice note.
JZ, I agree a nice note and maybe a baked gift her and her kid would enjoy?
We wouldn't even be here if ltc wasn't so excited about it. It's not like Dave and I have any interest in eating anything today. If mom lives close enough I would have dropped her off and gone home.
Dana, no that wouldn't help anything because I'm just being overly dramatic anyway.
