All Saints Day is today, and All Souls Day tomorrow. It's no Viking ship on fire, but I will inscribe Connie's name on a leaf of the Tree of Life at my parish, and she can join the rustling and murmuring all month long as the wind rises and falls and rattles the windowpanes.
I think it's already too late to add her name to the ribbon my church does for the Sunday closest to All Saints Day, but I'll certainly be adding her name to the list of beloved dead to remember at this time of year.
I've become more accepting of my own mortality over the past few years, but I'm not ready to feel the same about everyone else's.
Congrats, Sophia!

This. Y'all, please don't die anytime soon.
I love the all saints/all souls things.
I had my first disaster. Kitty knocked over a full thing of coffee! But I cleaned it up!
Since I have this comfy new bed, I hate to leave it, but before Aidan comes to take out the recycling from the bed I need to
- clean off bookcas
- clean off tv and stand
- clean two radiator
- ckean end tabk
^ckean sewing machine table
- bin the rest of the keep pile so Aidan can take to the attic
- steam the stiarway and alcove carpets. (Optional).
Sophia it is impressive how much you've done and continue to do.
It always helps to have help when you feel overwhelmed by your own mess. Nicole came to my place once and we spent the weekend just busting through everything. I got rid of a lot of stuff. Now that my son lives with me, who's a bit OCD, he'll pull stuff out of a closet and make me sort through it for Goodwill or trash. You should see my freezer. It's not alphabetical (he's dyslexic), but it's tidy. I can actually find stuff. It's mostly moral support and accountability. Makes me miss the Navy when I had a weekly inspection and had to keep up or face the consequences.
Jesus banapants how much more stuff!!!
Just had Aidan take out the old air conditioner, tv, vcr and empty cardboard boxes.
I'm glad you have help, Sophia. I'm so impressed with your progress!
I dragged ltc out to lunch so that TCG can take the leaves in peace.
The neighbors raked our leaves yesterday, and my mother was thanking the dad effusively until he whispered, "It's an activity!!!!" Hah.
I didn't notice that Connie hadn't replied but when she didn't reply to Toni's art deco post, I went looking.
This makes me fee very guilty for not noticing. She and I were always swapping Art Dec and European Architecture pictures. She was always someone i wanted to meet in person. and now
I'm teary eyed and I painted my nails black for her. I'm agnostic so I can easily picture her drinking meade in Valhalla with her beloved. this gives me comfort.
Still to do- The bookcases need to be wiped down. I need to reset the bathroom.
I bonus carpet cleaned the stairs because I find the physical labor soothing.
I am watching We Have Always Lived in the Castle. There is bopnus Sebastian Stan, who I have loved since Gossip Girl. Also, I swear I know the older sister from something, but it just may be that she is SO 1950/60s beautiful.
