I get not wanting to give money to the NY Times. On the other hand, I believe WaPo is owned by Jeff Bezos (Amazon). Of course, with my Amazon ebook addiction, I can't really talk.

Check your library and sesee if they have digital access. My library has digital access to the NY times and others. You get a pass to log in and then can read as many articles as you want.
