I've passed on telling a couple of co-workers about the buffistas because this is where I gripe about work (and co-workers). They'd have been great fits otherwise.
Oh! I also have a hivemind question: at work, we are doing "famous advertisements" for Halloween. Any good ideas? I can also use my office, so was thinking maybe Folger's Crystals? I can wear whatever but turn my office in a restaurant?
I've dressed up as the Burger King for Halloween before. Got great reactions (and a free bacon King sandwich!) with it.
There are two things keeping me here, other than the time I get to spend with my sister here.
I enrolled in a dog training class that runs 10 weeks not ending until Nov 3rd. I already assumed I would miss the last class because I like to be home for Halloween. Skinner and I need the training and it is a pricey ($350!) but very small focused training class. First week 1 on 1, last week just 2 dogs, and from now on just 4 which gives lots of individual attention with the trainer.
The other not fixable issue is I have to be here Oct 20-22 because my SILs and their sons are going to be staying with me for their fall tour of 5 states. Well, in theory they could be here without me, but visiting me is kind of the point of their trip, then they will go on to Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and a bunch of places. They wanted me and DH to join them on the rest of it, but I think my nephews and the sisters can have that time together and I can prepare to head south after my dog training on the 27th.
Short version, I can't clone myself so I'll stick it out for another 6 weeks.
Staff writer at The Atlantic Kaitlyn Tiffany's EVERYTHING I NEED I GET FROM YOU: HOW FANGIRLS CREATED THE INTERNET AS WE KNOW IT, a dive into the world of the young women who, beginning with their love for One Direction, shaped the language of the social internet
Um, what. I was with it until it got to "One Direction". Da fuq?
Um, what. I was with it until it got to "One Direction". Da fuq?
Exactly. I mean, One Direction was, like, ten minutes ago.
That was my first thought, after the laughter. I had to look it up and One Direction was 2010!
I mean, maybe the modern internet only starts then????
I have decided on the Morton Salt Girl.
I had to look it up and One Direction was 2010!
2010 WAS FIVE MINUTES AGO.
The 1990s were "last decade" AT MOST. FIGHT ME.
AGREED JESS
I'm thinking I don't know what "social internet" means and if I did maybe that would make more sense?
Ooh, the Morton Salt girl is perfect!
There were fan groups operating via BBS in the early 80s. Not sure where I would define the line for social internet.
