One of our more recent hires sent hand-written thank you notes on pretty stationery. She was, by far, the most qualified and best in interviews. So we were like, "Way the gild that lily, kid." But they were still nice to receive and didn't count against her.

Yes. It was working quite well, but she's been a terror since her birthday party. Still trying to stick with it, but hitting is an automatic 3, even in the book. And after 4 take 5s other consequences have to come into play.

I'm sorry, but it sounds like you are setting the right boundaries. If only kids would figure out that life is really a whole lot more fun when they behave! Having to punish sucks mightily.

That was always the worst, I would have something really nice planned for the boys and then they would do something that made it impossible for me to be able to do it. Grrr.
