Same here Jesse. Every joint in my body is freaking out.
ltc is learning that mommy is not making empty threats. If 4 time outs in a row isn't going to teach her not to hit me, maybe missing karate will.

Did you start the 1-2-3, sj?
Yes. It was working quite well, but she's been a terror since her birthday party. Still trying to stick with it, but hitting is an automatic 3, even in the book. And after 4 take 5s other consequences have to come into play.

I honestly think that's one of the most important things a kid can learn.
I'm sorry, but it sounds like you are setting the right boundaries. If only kids would figure out that life is really a whole lot more fun when they behave! Having to punish sucks mightily.

Truth.
Parents, as well. I've been working on instilling this idea in DH
I'm half looking forward to and half dreading our vacation because we have all these wonderful plans, but I don't know how she is going to behave.
That was always the worst, I would have something really nice planned for the boys and then they would do something that made it impossible for me to be able to do it. Grrr.
Timelies all!
We're trying to learn that lesson as well, sj. After two sessions with the child psychologist(one with Mr. S and one without him) we have a diagnosis: ADHD and DMDD. The first isn't really a surprise, given his birth mother's medical history, the second(which stands for Disruptive Mood Disregulation Disorder) makes sense as well, since it covers his non-complience and difficulty in self-regulation. Now to see where we go from here.
msbelle, pray you don't have my experience! Almost 20 years and im still having hot flashes. Not as intense as they were, but I still always have a fan and ice water at hand.
