No, it's shiny! I like to meet new people. They've all got stories...

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Do you send thank you notes for second interviews?

I think it went pretty well, and I'm a strong candidate, but who knows...

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I feel like a follow-up email is never a bad call, but it's especially valuable if you actually have something to say. Like, learning X thing about the position makes you an even better fit, or whatever? But I never mind getting even the most perfunctory thank you.

I am almost off work for two days, and I would love to just take off now, but I have yoga after work and also it's miserable outside, which I forget, sitting here in air conditioning. So I am going to stay here until 5!

Our wings are not tired.

Yes, no one objects to a thank you.

It is toasty here as well, nearly 80. I'd complain more, but I know it will be back near 50 tonight. I do have a couple fans going.

So apparently it just started storming here and dropped 25+ degrees. Phew!

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

One of our more recent hires sent hand-written thank you notes on pretty stationery. She was, by far, the most qualified and best in interviews. So we were like, "Way the gild that lily, kid." But they were still nice to receive and didn't count against her.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Same here Jesse. Every joint in my body is freaking out.

ltc is learning that mommy is not making empty threats. If 4 time outs in a row isn't going to teach her not to hit me, maybe missing karate will.

Did you start the 1-2-3, sj?

Yes. It was working quite well, but she's been a terror since her birthday party. Still trying to stick with it, but hitting is an automatic 3, even in the book. And after 4 take 5s other consequences have to come into play.

I honestly think that's one of the most important things a kid can learn.

I'm sorry, but it sounds like you are setting the right boundaries. If only kids would figure out that life is really a whole lot more fun when they behave! Having to punish sucks mightily.
