Simon: I'm trying to put this as delicately as I can... How do I know you won't kill me in my sleep? Mal: You don't know me, son. So let me explain this to you once: If I ever kill you, you'll be awake, you'll be facing me, and you'll be armed.

'Serenity'

Spike's Bitches 49: As usual, I'm here to help you, and I... are you naked under there?

Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Pretty sure I am now officially getting hot flashes. I feel like the goddamn Human Torch.

And, you know, hot flashes would be a fair trade IF my period stopped, but it hasn't. Which is bullshit.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

If I remember correctly, there will be a time when you have the joys of both. They DO go away. Eventually.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

That does sound like bullshit.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

HELLFIRE! That episode was so incredibly sexist and awful, but he died in the end. I only wish that Emma had actually killed him instead of him doing it by accident. But, they didn't let her kill anyone, just beat them up :)

Thrive to spite them

My day has been meh. M's mom goes to church on Sundays and is usually gone at least 2 hours sometimes longer. M decided last night was a good night to have some whiskey which turned into a lot of whiskey so he's still sleeping off his hang over and we had no alone time this morning.

Then his mom isn't going over to his brother's for lunch so I got roped into making soup. Except we got conflicted on how to make the soup--its hamburger vegetable. She wanted to just chop up some potatoes and maybe some carrots and cook them with the ground beef, then add some canned tomatoes and water and cook it. Yes without salt and pepper or any seasoning.

I was trying to saute the carrots, celery and onion and throw in some parsnips we had and add some seasonings to build flavor.

I hope it doesn't turn out too bad, I wasn't really in the mood to make this soup. I have some stuff to try and make a pork and green chile soup which I have a feeling I'm going to be the only one who likes it. But I don't care since I'm the only one who really eats leftovers.

Actually the other day she made a pot of pinto beans and cooked them until they got super creamy. She did actually add some seasoning too it and then for the left overs I mashed them up in the broth and added chili powder, cumin, some red pepper flakes, salsa, lime juice, cheese to make a sort of bean dip that I poured over tortilla chips and added a bit more cheese and salsa and hot sauce. It was really good.

It's chilly today and I'm trying to go through some of my cold weather clothes and be honest with myself abot what I'll wear. I have stuff I like that I don't want to give up but I barely wore it last year since it was so warm in the house all the time. thankfully his mom has not tried to turn the heat on in the rest of the house but is limiting herself to 2 space heaters running in her bedroom.

You've got friends to have good times with. When you need to share the trauma of a badly-written book with someone, that's when you go to family.

Seen on Kameron Hurley's Twitter feed, from Theodora Goss:

Ladies, I know we're told that after a certain age, we should cut off our long hair. But the question is, what do you want your vampire hair length to be? Because it will be that length forever.
