I've had a Bonnie Raitt grey/white streak at the front of my hair for years, then just the stray grey. Last year, due to stress (I think), I went from overall less than 25% grey to well over half.
I'd grow it out, but the last time I flirted with that, I felt I looked too old in photos. It's not the flattering kind of grey.
Right now, I just look like a skunk. I keep procrastinating coloring my hair.
My hair was originally a very dark brown, almost black, and I started getting white streaks fairly early. It was quite dramatic and I liked it - one friend said that if she didn't know me better, she'd think I was having them done professionally - but my hair did go almost completely white after having a stroke. I went red/auburn to celebrate recovery and have kept it up since ... until I just got tired of trying to keep it from fading. So ... I'll let it go white and see how it looks.
I honestly don't have any idea what color most of my hair is these days
I might be okay with letting mine go grey if it hadn't receded so much in the front hairline. It got really bad in about 10 years ago and has been slowly filling back in since, but it will probably never be as full as it was. Like, one of those things I could deal with, but that's TWO things that make me look older than I feel I am.
So ... I'll let it go white and see how it looks.
It was white when I met you at the DC F2F and you looked magnificent.
DC F2F? that would have been in 2004 and it was GOING white, but hadn't achieved the full effect!

I just remember you looking particularly splendid then.
(blush) Thank you! I remember I'd bought a fancy top for the event.
To add to the irony, at my last hair appointment, I'd set up the next for April 25. I received a text message - obviously automatically generated - reminding me of it. sigh ... if only it were true ... the stylist messaged me that they hope to re-open May 15.
If you don't want to order color remover, AND if your hair is not too far off your natural color, you can also make a hair mask with Vitamin C tablets (about 3) and shampoo or dish soap. Crush up the tablets, mix it with the soap, put it in your hair, put a cap over your hair, and wait 45 minutes. It's worked very well for me with both permanent and semi-perm dye.
Condition the hell out of it if you do this.
