In my experience, the 28-day in patient rehab thing is a voluntary option and "rehab" is also used to describe the relatively short period of time that is just for physical recovery (although 1 day seems short for even that). I remember when my brother was in patient the terms they used to just mean various locations in the facility were very confusing to those of us who weren't there to see what they were talking about. Like "of course he's in recovery, that's why he's here, but where is he?" when "Recovery" was a particular set of rooms. Could be something similar going on.

Relieved he's through the immediate crisis stage, for sure. Incandescently angry at my father (I posted about that in Natter, since I can't seem to confine my relapse posts to one thread). Really, really exhausted.
Update: I cannot BELIEVE how exhausted I am right now. (Worth noting that I also did a 5K Saturday in temps that were below 40 degrees [but above freezing], and I'm pretty sure that really took it out of me, too.)
The Elvis Costello concert is tonight, and I am SO glad that it's a we-are-middle-aged-people-who-are-not-going-to-stand-and-dance concert. I can't WAIT to see him, because I've never seen him live (plus flea and Mr. flea are coming [but unfortunately Hil can't make it, damn it]), but I really really need to sit.

-t, now that I let myself remember (it was a tough time), this wasn't exactly a voluntary option: happened when the family member was residing outside the US, and the choices were at least 30 days in hospital rehab or a holding cell until the airport opened for a flight back to the US, with a ten-year ban on reentry. Given that their spouse and child wouldn't have been able to follow easily . . . .
Teppy, of course you're exhausted! The 5k on top of everything else, it's good you're upright. I am so jealous of the concert and hope you have a fantastic time.

I saw EC play on his Spike tour. Great show - obviously he's got an incredible songbook that he can dip into, but also he always has fantastic musicians and knows how to engage with the audience. You're going to love it.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.
My sweet kitty Leo passed away today. I thought I would be able to be all stoic, but hell no, I cried and cried. The vet was really kind. It's strange, I guess, that of all the many pets I've had, I've never had to euthanize one before. I know he was dying and miserable and it was the right thing to do but it was so hard. My pretty kitty boy.
The other two haven't realized yet that he isn't coming back. The Gray Cat will miss him; they were snuggle buddies. Percy won't; they never got along. I will miss him a lot.
Steph, I'm glad your extraordinarily hard-headed brother is doing well.
