Spike's Bitches 49: As usual, I'm here to help you, and I... are you naked under there?
Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I have bronchitis, and I don't like it.
Also, I've been looking into whether or not I'm eligible for dual citizenship in Germany or Austria. Dual citizenship seems like it would be useful, especially considering everything that's going on in the US now. I've gotten a definite answer that I am NOT eligible for German citizenship, because of somewhat absurd clauses in the laws -- if my dad had been born a few years later, or if my grandparents hadn't been married when he was born, then I would be eligible, but because his parents were married, and he was born before 1953, I'm not. I might be eligible for Austrian citizenship, though, so I'm looking into that.
Oh yuck, Hil. I hope you are able to get some good rest this weekend and get some relief.
Feel better Hil.
My nephew is eligible for Irish citizenship through his mom's dad and I keep telling him to go for it.
Cali-istas, have you all really had electrical rates rise at 3 times the national avg? Utility companies are fighting solar expansion, and I suspect, lying massively.
I don't think so. I'm on a level-payment plan do I don't pay close attention to my electric bills, but I think I would have noticed that even so.
Oy. The correct response to, "If you're even slightly undecided about this local race, where one candidate has posted antisemitic conspiracy theories, but you think that the other candidate isn't progressive enough, then please unfriend me," is not to comment about how the other candidate isn't progressive enough.
I figured that I'd have heard the sticker shock across the internet if that were so, t, but thanks for your thoughts.
saw that...whoever that dude is could be poster boy mansplainer. also, whatever your guy's flaws may be as a campaigner(I really can't say as there has to be a race or two that I can't follow) he stepped up and took the risk, unlike all those, you know, armchair Carvilles out there second-guessing... although, if memory serves, he does have a PDA endorsement, so he can't be *that* non-progressive...it's in the name.
This particular guy is really testing my limits with this -- he's spent the past several months (ever since the primary) posting non-stop on local political boards about how Aftab (the "not progressive enough" guy) is such a fake and has no real ideas and blah blah blah, and every Republican in those groups is liking and sharing those posts.
Like I said, I think we should be careful about ripping people for campaign gaffes, etc. It takes guts to open your life to that kind of scrutiny, and, given his name, he is probably a real target for haters, etc. Basically, his campaign is better than Mr. Lynch's, right?(although, yeah, if you don't face the choices they do, it is 100% easier to be incorruptible, kill in the debates you imagine as you go to sleep at night, give a perfect speech...whatever.ETA: My mistake, PDA has not endorsed him...maybe Indivisible or Democracy For America has...too many lists!
That said, Krysten Sinema disappoints me often. Some of her votes, her insistence of talking about "solutions on both sides of the aisle..." but I still voted for her cause Martha McSally will vote against my healthcare EVERY FRICKING TIME.
Yeah. Aftab isn't my favorite, but he seems decent, and it's not like there's someone else running who's so much better. Chabot is awful. (I'm still kind of annoyed at Aftab from the first Women's March, when he walked by me, then seemed to notice that he'd just walked by a Person With A Disability, turned around, came back, didn't say a word to me, patted me on the shoulder, and then continued to wherever he'd been headed to begin with. But I'm not telling that story all over the internet, because it's a pointless thing in the middle of this campaign.) (Also, I don't live in that district, because the gerrymandered district dividing line is a few blocks in the wrong direction from my apartment. My district is about a third of Cincinnati, then continuing across half the state into Appalachia. Nobody national is putting any money into our race, because it's just hopeless.)
