Death is your art. You make it with your hands day after day. That final gasp, that look of peace. And part of you is desperate to know: What's it like? Where does it lead you? And now you see, that's the secret. Not the punch you didn't throw or the kicks you didn't land. She really wanted it. Every Slayer has a death wish. Even you.

Spike ,'Conversations with Dead People'

Spike's Bitches 49: As usual, I'm here to help you, and I... are you naked under there?

Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Not really, but I'll probably look for a new place for next year. And I am spending this afternoon cleaning, because that was my plan anyway. I've got stuff like some stacks of books on the floor next to a full bookshelf, and the clothes on the floor in my bedroom are getting out of hand (I'll even admit that one), but books don't attract any more rodents on the floor than they would on a shelf.

Ugh. And now my laundry was delivered from the laundry service, and it was definitely washed in scented detergent and scented fabric softener, even though my account says to use unscented everything. And I still haven't heard back from my doctor about the other blood test that she said she was waiting on.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I'm sorry, Hil. That is officially Too Much, and your landlord is being an asshole.

Thanks. I've got one big box of books to donate (mostly math books that are either out of date or that I haven't actually referenced in years), plus an old printer and a big bag of clothes. And I'm putting them out in the foyer for now, even though he's told me not to put stuff there before, but they're getting in the way of cleaning other stuff, and I put a note on them saying that they'll be picked up by VVA next week. And what I really want to do is get all the books off of one of my bookshelves in the living room and move the whole shelf into the bedroom and then put everything back, but that will take a little while. It will make the living room look a lot less cluttered, though (and it's something that I've been planning to do for a while), so I should probably do it.

OK, books stacked on bed and bookshelf moved. Taking a rest before putting the books back on the shelf.

Moving that shelf also gives much easier access to the part of the wall that's crumbling, so I can ask the landlord to get that fixed while I'm away without him telling me that he can't fix it because of my mess.

OK, the shelf is moved. I've got some other furniture that I want to move, but it will be more complicated -- I want to switch my desk and my electric keyboard, but I think both of those will require two people to move them.

Our wings are not tired.

You want to try and pace yourself. It can be really easy to hurt yourself overdoing. Don't want to pay a price tomorrow!

And I went out in the rain and brought one trash container and one recycling container to the curb. There are some more of each that are full or close to full, but that was all I could handle -- the recycling containers are nearly as tall as me.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Ugh, Hil. I'm sorry. That's such a pain. Please don't overdo it.

ltc's lesson in consequences today: if you're completely unhelpful when out with Momma and Momma therefore cannot go to the market, there will continue to be no strawberries in the house. ION, she really doesn't like the word consequences.

I also seem to have volunteered myself to manage a Facebook group for all the cousins on one side of the family. (My great-grandmother was one of 12 children, and nine of them had children of their own. There are a lot of cousins by this point.)
