Xander: Just once I'd like to run into a cult of bunny worshippers. Anya: Great. Thank you very much for those nightmares.

'Sleeper'

Spike's Bitches 49: As usual, I'm here to help you, and I... are you naked under there?

Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I am with Zen in the hard HELL NO. Beware long term guests you aren't completely comfortable with who may have to be evicted to get them out of your house. Any offer to pay you will definitely turn him into a tenant, so don't fall for that, either.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

Thanks, you guys, it does help to know you don't see me as the selfish (or paranoid) party here.

Don't even feel bad, girl, he should've taken the NO the first time.

He said his mom told him to ask again, so if this isn't the end of it, I'll say something to her about knocking it off.

Our wings are not tired.

What they said! Epic, no way should you open your house to this young man. If he wants to move to CA he needs to have more of a plan than finding a free place to stay.

No improvements here with the sibs or my kid. DH and I want to run away and join the circus or something.

Geez, I hadn't even thought of that. Thanks, Sparky.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

It should be a no. My husband is more generous than I am - and we have let one person have an open invite - including staying over . He is one of the few people I never thought would be difficult - and he wasn't. So no is a good thing

THANK YOU. When he first messaged, I pointed out that his profile says LA, but I'm in SD. He just said he needs somewhere in CA while he gets settled. HUGE RED FLAGS - like, there's not even a job lined up? No sir, sorry, but I'm not down with you couchsurfing while you find yourself.

Also, Epic, don't let him use your address for job hunting.

You do not have to feel in the least bit bad! Also, "his mom told him to ask again"? In his twenties? Nope.

Southern California is a very difficult area to get started in, so yeah, if he doesn't have a really good plan he'll get eaten alive.

On another topic altogether: About a year an a half ago a Starbucks opened in DC, right on the line to my MD town. (My hippie dippy town does not make chains welcome, thankyouverymuch.) In the past two weeks two independent local coffee shops have announced a closing.

I'm not happy, and I hardly ever drink coffee anymore.

That sucks, Sparky. I hate when that happens.
