Spike's Bitches 49: As usual, I'm here to help you, and I... are you naked under there?

Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Connie, I buy Comfort Choice sports bras. Moderate support for a large bosom, all cotton, about as comfortable as a bra can be.

t is 55 min drive but the issue there is just how I would feel driving back and forth.

How far is most work, from your house? I mean, if you're working 8 hours, then two hours driving doesn't impact the money thaaaat much. But if you're working shorter shifts, that's bringing down your pay per hour a lot. Plus gas?

Thrive to spite them

The job I accepted is probably the closest. The next closest viable location is 40 mins, but that would be taking a different route with less traffic.

I've had to spend that much time in the car before and in Tallahassee it was a much shorter distance just more traffic.

I think it feels bigger because I have to go up and down the really curvy mountain road. And I don't have to go through town there is a back way to bypass town and cut some time off. It will be longer during the holidays because of increased traffic. Not only are all the big box stores together the on ramp for going to Asheville is right there (Target is just last that) and traffic can get backed up.

I got spoiled living in Vermont where there wasn't much traffic to deal with and when I did have to drive far it went quicker for the most part.

Also I can't sleep because Penny has been running around and jumping in things and tried to jump to the top of the closet from my computer chair and failed. Lucky she didn't break anything . I finally opened a window and she settled down for a bit.

I need to bathe her. I know she has fleas and I think that's part of it. We've been struggling to get the fleas under control. M is having a bad problem with his car and fleas. So I feel like I'm just transferring them from one place to the other.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

I'm sorry if this is oversharing, but this is so damn funny that I have to:

Murderbiscuit is getting neutered Tuesday, which has been scheduled for over a month now. (No one tell him he's losing his nards!)

Tim scheduled his vasectomy for December, and I got the heebie-jeebies about it being so far out and asked if he could reschedule it sooner (December was NOT the first available appt; he just picked that date/time because it was convenient).

It's now scheduled for Monday. He and Murderbiscuit are going to be surgery buddies! I cannot stop laughing.

One human sized ice pack, one kitten sized ice pack.

And Crowley would be joining in the neutering posse, but I need to reschedule him out to December. My vet says he is still a bit too young (the surgery is being done by the rescue's vet since it is included in the adoption fee).

Our wings are not tired.

That is awesome! Multiple sized ice packs.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

ETA: I forgot to type my chuckle at the surgery buddies and ice packs, Steph.

Suzi, I'm glad your vet counsels waiting. Although the benefits of neutering are many and important, there've been studies done on the effects of neutering very early, which leads to problems as the animals mature--bone length and lack of density, primarily, which there's some indication it can lead to bone cancers. There's some evidence of failure to mature of some organs, as well. The studies are ongoing.

Good pet-keeping requires neutering, but I can't agree with doing it at six weeks, as some shelters do--a requirement before adoption. Six months seems like a much more reasonable goal--or five, in the case of girl cats, since many of them have their first heat around then.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Steph, that is delightful.

The bad - She is not housebroken at all

Ugh. We are struggling with my dad's new dog. Who they told us (the night before adoption day) will occasionally have an accident when she gets excited.

She's a Jack Russell.

If she's conscious, she's excited.

I'm thinking about putting my dad in touch with Bonnie, actually. We're just not sure how to get through to her. She's in a weird in between situation - if she has access to the outside, she'll go outside. But she doesn't have any inclination to ask or to wait if she's worked up and you're not totally focused on her. It's a little exhausting.

Bev, that is what I'm being told is a good six months. We think Jack was neutered too young but have no real way of knowing.

The rescue I work with has an adoption fee and then a refundable deposit you have to put down if the animal hasn't been neutered yet. Once he/she has surgery, at the rescue's vet, the deposit is returned. Thanks to my relationship with the rescue, I didn't have to put down the deposit, which was nice. It is interesting that the rescue's vet was all good about scheduling him at 5 months when my vet AND the rescue advocate 6 months.
