Hell yes, Zen. And then I think about taking a "sick" day. And then I remind myself that it would just be even worse tomorrow with twice the emails waiting for me. ...but for the moment, my alarm went off 20 minutes ago and I'm still lying in bed.

Spike's Bitches 49: As usual, I'm here to help you, and I... are you naked under there?
Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I am no longer on vacation, which seems unfair. Instead, I have a ton of stuff to do that needs to be done, and I don't wanna do it.
The focus of this Con is Myths and Legends - taking modern day Sci Fi that could some day inspire myths and legends.
Holy cow, Suzi, I want go to this Con! All the topics are fascinating.
And how wonderful that you are doing volunteer management. You never know where it might lead.
The vol. manager for Awesome Con now works as the head of volunteer fulfillment for Disneyworld. No lie! She coordinates the internal staff volunteer function. Employees register their volunteer hours and the orgs they help get cash donations. It's an amazing venture and a job my friend would never have dreamt up.
It could be a second career for you...if you enjoy that sort of thing, of course.
Sorry for the relationship bummer, meara, but yay for the nekkid fun.
Zen, I so deeply feel you on the email thing. I spend entirely too much time 'organizing' my email as a way to avoid actually addressing the content. Blergh.
Was going to meara, but I keep getting interrupted. From what I recall:
Sounds like you managed to have a pretty fun weekend after all, meara, I'm glad.
beekaytee, super-impressed with your recording/documenting and standing up for yourself.
Zen, good luck with your upcoming may-need-a-recording situation (and your inbox)!
Suzi, that sounds like an awesome con!
Trying to get some paperwork dealt with for my mom to continue getting some help from the county. Paperwork is kind of late (what can I say, we were busy with all the hospitalizations in July), so I thought I'd better fax rather than mail it, because they're supposed to be calling her today. Except that, though the paperwork says you can fax it in, there's no fax # listed anywhere. Call 3 different numbers and, after a half hour on hold, finally get a fax #...and our fax machine is on the fritz. Oh well, she'll just have to tell them we mailed it today when they call. Can't say I didn't try.
So, I was "let down easy" last week by my most recent prospective fella (Zen, this is the Comic Store Guy we discussed - we've been hanging out a while, but...), so I'm taking a page out of msbelle's book and putting it out here: Beloved Bitches, anybody know any eligible fellas, mid-thirties to mid-fifties, preferably in SoCal, of a temperament likely to complement a fellow Buffista? Seriously, I never meet anybody, let alone anybody as smart and funny as you guys. That's why I had hopes for this guy (and why I'll try to remain friends), he was pretty much the last single man within 10 years of my age in San Diego (who's smart and snarky and has some fandom intersections with my own). So I'm putting it out there (here), I'd like to meet people; anybody got a people to meet?
edited to note: the above was posted before I caught up in Natter. I just remembered msbelle posting a couple/few months back. Unlike her, I haven't braved diving back into internet dating. Yet.
I will check in with my SoCal friends for recommendations, Epic. I like the way you think.
About 10 years ago, a dog park friend of mine was super depressed about her love life. Her friends set up 8 dates in 8 days. My friend married Date #2 and I did the flowers for their wedding. They now have two adopted daughters and a beautiful life.
There are two guys I really liked at AwesomeCon, but one is only 40 (I know age is just a number, but 17 years is a stretch for a man who might still want kids...I think) and the other is a very cool DJ. They both drink more than I like, but they are salt-o-the earth types.
May you find that type soon, and for keeps!
If my friends had 8 single men, I'd be willing to try this strategy!

This is what makes me hesitant with guys too much younger than me, though that's what I've always been attracted to. Cute IT guy who's turning 36 this month could want - and still have - a half dozen kids; at 46, I'd be lucky to have 1 (and hesitant due to the health risks). Good luck with your prospects - hope one of them turns out to suit what you're looking for.
Darn it, Comic Store Guy! Your loss, dude.
Oh bless, neither one are prospects for me.
Seriously, if I weren't old enough to be his mother, the first one would be in my sights. We've had excellent conversations and, except for being less confident than I would like, he is SO attractive to me. But 17 years is just too much of a stretch...which seems ironic since my husband was 15 years older than me and it was awesome while it lasted.
Other dude and I have had great convos too, but he's not looking so I will enjoy what we do have.
Edited to Add: volunteering at geeky conventions is a GREAT way to find the right type.
Well, friends are good too, if that's the way things go.

Noted. I don't know of any soon, but WhoCon is early October, I think. And only in their second year, so probably welcoming of volunteers.
