Boxed Set, Vol. VI: I am not a number, I am a free thread!

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Compassionately intolerant

Noooooooo.

Sigh.

We just can't have nice things.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Yeah, rod roddenberry is at the con, and he was saying that he asked CBS if there was anything he could tell or show or ANYTHING, and they were all, "no."

A well-established way to build buzz.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I don't recall seeing anything overtly rapey, but it got to the point where the regular jokes on Family Guy were so abusive in tone that it triggered me.

They definitely went the domestic violence route, in many ways. There was a whole episode about Quagmire's sister being abused that was played for laughs. Disgusting.

Thrive to spite them

I watched the second episode of Orville because I was at my bf's and he wanted to watch it.

It was weirdly paced. Also it made no sense. The concept was actually interesting but that was it.

Holland Taylor and Jeffrey Talbot had small parts but that was only a highlight because they are good. The material was a retread.

Only TVing when exercising - so way behind. Has anyone commented on fact that Dark Matter and Killjoys have the same macro=plot arc? Big scary hive mind (alien goo on Killjoy's , Hybrid Nanobot/viruses from another universe on Dark Matter). We even have the kickass woman lead compromised by evil in both season finales. Not quite caught up on expanse, but it seems to be playing the alien super-viusr game too. However, they make it much more convincingly alien with an eerie beauty - instead of a bwa-ha=haing Bond villain in hivemind form. Also,, giving the more convincing world-buidling and politics in the Expnse, and the slight bis towards nuance and subtlety, I wonder if there will be room for negotiation with the thing. If not I'll bet here will be at least doomed atttempts at negotation.

Oh womone wanted to discuss a plot point in Midnight, Texas. Was tge contradiction the Were-tiger's urges getting darker, but the demons don't seem to find any darkness to stir in the werewolf? Because if you anyone is looking for a reasonable resolution to that one, I got nothing.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Had Orville on in the background tonight, and Liam Neeson showed up in a cameo role. That surprised me.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

I still have the first episode of ST: Discovery on my DVR. Anyone think it's worth the time? The reviews have been pretty mixed. (This is probably the first time in my life I haven't jumped at a new Trek show.)

It was ok. I liked the two main female characters, and I liked Sarek. OTOH, it's a two-hour movie that provides the back story for the main character in a show that will apparently be much different. There is too much focus on battle and very little on exploration.

I look forward to seeing what Jason Isaacs character will be like.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

ST: Discovery Episode 3 -- We've never seen that Magic Mushroom technology on any of the later series, right? Which means it must be doomed for failure?
