My parents are proposing an Alaska trip this summer for the whole family, on their dime. Mom just asked if I would share a room with them. NOPE. And nope nope NOPE. I'll pay the difference myself, with glee. Not playing spinster aunt, not murdering one of them within 48 hrs. I inherited their thriftiness, but these days, I'm of an age and paycheck I only room with people when I really want to. My snoring, insomniac parents don't make the list.
Oh, hell no.
Right? I mean, I know where mom is coming from. But, no.
100% correct decision there, sarameg.
I'd share a room with mom if it were the two of us. Dad is deal breaker. Never. Them as a couple is as well (their fussing at each other is cute...if you can run from it.) Dad in my home requires a shitton of forbearance for 2100 sq ft, never thinking a room.
omg so right, sarameg.

Thanks, y'all!
Shrift, I hope the role turns out to be one that appeals to you.
An Alaskan trip sounds fun, sarameg, but I totally get the "nope" on sharing a room with your parents. I had to put my foot down on that with mine once I hit my 30s.
