Act as a liaison it is! Which is true, and I can spin that.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Everyone does at least one of those in an office job, right?

I have hit submit so it's in the system. I'll proofread later.

brillig

The first half of my (and Hubby's) comic book collection has arrived, thanks to Faux Son. In total, nearly a dozen long boxes of mid-90s comics across most of the publishers that went through Hubby's comics shop. Lots of Bat Man and X-Men, Lady Death, oodles of Image and Dark Horse. There are a lot of books I want to keep, then I guess I'll drag what's left to the current incarnation of Hubby's store and see if there's any interest in the rest. Lots of damaged books to get rid of as well. I forgot I liked Spawn so much.

Yay, shrift!

So tonight I had a discussion with a friend who had never heard of Up With People. And while I knew of them (and even remember some of the theme song), apparently I actually knew nothing about them. Like, that they were a kind of reactionary group, possibly funded by the government?

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

My boss called me yesterday to do my performance review while I was in an Uber on the way to a client presentation. So that was fun. I had headphones so I didn't ask to reschedule.

It was fine, everything positive, but while our team exceeded our numbers the wider business group did not so no top ups on bonuses and stuff. Whatev. After my epic meltdown last year I've decided to not really give a shit.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

There was a good metafilter thread about UWP a few years ago.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I don't remember you melting down, brenda, but I'm generally in favor of not giving a shit about work stuff whenever practical. Glad for general positive review.

I need to start my self-eval, though maybe not today as I feel like my strengths and accomplishments would end up being along the lines of "aces at spending money" and "surprisingly quick with a limerick"

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I got royally screwed last year, in what should have been a freaking stellar review - worked incredibly hard, took on some toxic personalities and some major challenges to help out my boss, won a top manager award, and my team brought in 5 of the company's 10 largest wins. And I got shit. No merit increase, my standard bonus.

This year I actually come out slightly better than last, but also I didn't actually work very hard.

ETA: new role, new manager. I jumped before I was pushed. But I do need to find a better balance somehow.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh yeah, that was some bullshit. I know I'm not ambitious, but not working that hard and doing better financially seems like the way to go to me!
