I have never drunk rum. I want to buy a bottle of rum. (Mostly so, some day, in 15 years, I can say, "Why is the rum gone?") What kind of rum should I buy, and how should I drink it? (I am serious about the 15 years thing. Last week I finished a bottle of Chivas we inherited when mr. flea's grandparents died in 2001. Note that it was not full when we inherited it.)

Also, I would like to confess that despite an overall excellent command of English, I am confused about the tenses of the verb "to drink." "I have never drunk rum" is, I think, correct, but it feels wrong. Drink, drank, drunk. Sigh.

You've never drunk rum?! Dang girl. I def recommend a dark rum. Caribbean. But Jamaican vs Hatian vs wherever else, no idea. I mean, I also like a spiced rum, but that's not purist of me.
I am so anxious about the election. Also, I am having people over and contemplated election cake but it sounded hard. I want to know if it tastes good, first!

I like dark rum to drink in Dark and Stormys (Stormies?) I like a Dark and Stormy, is what I'm getting at -- dark rum with ginger beer. I have also put it in mulled cider. It is also delicious just with Sprite. I think the bottle I currently have is Gosling's, but I'm no kind of expert.

It sounds good! I mean, fruit cake is delicious generally. And I strongly stand by that.
