Jayne (Husband): Oh, I think you might wanna reconsider that last part. See, I married me a powerful ugly creature. Mal (Wife): How can you say that? How can you shame me in front of new people? Jayne (Husband): If I could make you purtier, I would. Mal (Wife): You are not the man I met a year ago.

Coding and Sleeping

I am not liking what I'm seeing on Five Thirty Eight.

I am so dispirited about this election. Trump says thing after thing that isn't true and nobody cares. I had a friend e-mail me about my opinion on Gary Johnson while saying he couldn't vote for Clinton because she is a criminal and massively evil. I have another friend share right-wing articles that are almost complete fantasy. It's just so depressing. Doesn't anyone give a shit about what's actually true or not? Hell, even journalists spend far more time on the optics of stories rather than the truth.

This whole e-mail thing is so frustrating. Doesn't any journalist realize that Clinton using a private server rather than a state department server doesn't really change much of anything? She'd still have to use a secure system for classified material and a regular system for normal e-mail. You have exactly the same issues. You can't fucking criminalize state department people just doing their jobs. Then Comney sends this letter because there might be new evidence in the future, but probably not? What the fuck is that?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I just need someone to bait Trump into saying something stupid, preferably today. It shouldn't be that hard!

And I think 538 is just clickbait now, but focus on the electoral vote mapping.

Step away from the Silver. PEC is steady at >99%. [link]

Because books.

What's disheartening is how many stupid things he's already said that his supporters just blithely ignore. Or embrace!

True, true. But I do think the Alicia Machado stuff (for example) did hurt him.

ION, I gave blood after work yesterday and forgot to take the band-aid off my finger until this morning, and the skin is still a little weird and wrinkly, three hours later!

Nate Silver has kind of lost it. This is a good piece about why his predictions are so wildly different from other places like Princeton: [link]

I do have the jitters that something HUGE is going to be dropped today. It's the last weekend before the election, so if there's going to be the bombshell to end all bombshells, it's going to be today. I'm just hoping it's about Trump.

More importantly, I'm going to make election cake this weekend, and was going to use dark rum to soak the fruit in, because I have it around and also it's American. That will still be delicious, right? Even though the recipes call for whisky or other?

Yes, this. It's so scary.

My coodinator just emailed all the freelancers to tell us that the AMA is giving the employees an extra hour of paid time off today to attend the Cubs parade. That's awesome.
