this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I love Samoas violently and will risk gastrointestinal unrest to eat them.

Hey, Teppy, there's a place called The Macaron Store in Cuyahoga, Ohio!

They're everywhere!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I just want to yell Stop being stupid! which oddly no one responds well to.

I find myself stuck on "Is that seriously what you believe? Really?" Which doesn't go far. I have been failing for months now to just go to my city council meetings and, like, listen, so my political career is not going to take off like a comet any time soon.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I love Samoas and have one box tucked away in the top cabinet. Damn, I wish I didn't remember that.

So at work today my team got a noise complaint about us. Dunno who it came from, but I suspect it was one of the Trump voters on the next cubicle hallway. Grumble. So now instead of ranting about politics (which I was doing too much for an office environment anyway), I will only talk about puppies. Probably better for my blood pressure.

I was thinking about joining a commission, there's a bunch of them here with openings. But I don't want to make any sudden changes or commitments right now...

Am I the only one here who doesn't much like cookies?

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Cookies have to be really special to tempt me much.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Am I the only one here who doesn't much like cookies?

I spent a surprising amount of time tonight on this very subject.

I was elaborating on my theorem that the One True Dessert is ice cream. But when it came down to cookies v. cake, I would say that in most instances I'd prefer a cookie, but had to admit that a great slice of cake was better than the best cookie. It's just that mediocre cake abounded and it was easier to get a great cookie.

Post Toasties:

I'm so furious about McConnell censuring Elizabeth Warren in the Senate today.

After all the sexist bullshit HRC had to deal with, they think they can go after Warren?

I will burn you down, Turtle Man!

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

For me it all depends on the cake and the cookie. If I'm not careful I can binge out on Samoas or double-stuff Oreos, but most packaged or even good bakery cookies aren't to my taste. Too sweet, too dense. But a crisp, homemade cookie where there's enough butter, salt, and/or flavor to balance out the sweetness is bliss. Likewise with cakes I don't like them when they're too sweet, which most of them are.

But what about cake vs. pie? When I was younger I was on Team Cake, but now I'm Team Pie all the way. Pecan pies in the winter, strawberry or blackberry in the summer...mmm....

Tricky one. It's all in the details, right?

Mr. Flea made me and Emmett some of the best pies I've had. So when you're alive to the fruit and the tart and the balance of sweetness and a perfect crust you've got something special.

But the place I go to for Matilda's bday cakes specializes in old school Austrian style cake making. Not too far from what you see on the Great British Bakeoff. But that was revelatory to get away from the dominance of buttercream frostings in America and sample cakes with whipped cream and mousse between the layers. Those can be exquisite and complex.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

today's news has just set my head of fire.

So I will think about cake instead. Maybe I will bake one tomorrow
