I am actually reading FB more than I used to . Which is still not much, but I've been pleasantly surprised to see that people who were apolitical or conservative back in the day are marching and protesting now. Not everyone, of course, but more than I would have guessed.

Also watching Jane the Virgin.

I just started watching Jane the Virgin last week and it is so amazingly just what I needed.

We read Man in the High Castle for book club this month. We met tonight and there was lots of talk about how we hope this reality isn't real like is maybe the case in the book. Who knows, though?

I know there's liberals that can literally go off their rocker, too, but the frequency at which conservatives abandon reason-based arguments for insults online is pretty telling. (Got in one too many "arguments with a friend-of-a-friend on Facebook today.)

Regarding trust-worthy news sources, I feel like CNN has descended into being somewhere just above clickbait at this point. I mean, I know on a certain level, journalism is about the number of eyeballs you can attract, but that seems to be the only thing there with them.

I find myself spending a lot of time reading The Atlantic, Washington Post, and the Chicago Tribune (though there's a lot of overlap there). I've also been following the author Jim Wright [link] who (though I don't always agree with him) has a pretty solid head on his shoulders and is good at breaking down what what actually have to happen to do things people suggest.

We celebrate, because to give in to despair will leave us no strength to fight. We celebrate in grey dresses and monotone voices. We celebrate in jeweltones and arias. We will celebrate because this might be the Apocalypse and we have learned from Buffy that when we've done fighting this one, there will be another. We will celebrate because this might be Ragnaroc or it might be Armageddon but we will not go down without a fight. We will celebrate because joy only lives intermingled with grief. We will celebrate because every breath is a giant "Fuck you!" to the mundanity of evil.

I am enjoying retirement tremendously. Although, lots of things are still up in the air and I still haven't found a part-time job to supplement my pension.

I'm watching Top Model which is totally an antidote to serious ;)
