What gets me about a lot of these people on the right is they seem to have such a dismal view of humanity. Not just writ large but of the actual people around them. I suppose it's quite true that in some cases a bio-dad or a young girl's parents might look to argue, but boiling that down to inconvenience is bizarre. And this reads like he pretty much expects that anyone who might be asked to babysit is looking to drag some poor woman to the clinic.

Also, the only situation I can really imagine that can be realistically twisted into what your friend is seeing is a young teenager whose parents don't want to raise her child and don't see her as able to do it herself. That's just not at all the same thing as "being inconvenienced."

The only difference between rural Western Pennsylvania of my youth and Utah is that if the girl is over 17, odds are she's married. Though to give Utah Mormons a little credit, it's becoming more accepted to wait till their 20s to get married, though you're still running out of time if you start creeping up on 25.
