Timelies all!
We've Skyped with my parents(well, Gary and Mr. S did, I was in the shower), gone out for lunch and groceries( Gary's mom watched Mr. S)and are putting the little boy down for a nap.
After the nap is done, we will head to Gary's Dad and Step-mom's place so Gary can see if there's anything they're discarding that he wants. They're moving to Florida.
Fuck. I'm seeing instances of the Dept. of Homeland Security not complying with the Federal judge orders to stay the immigration ban.
Which is to say...they are not following the rule of law and answering only to the Executive.
I didn't think we'd have a civil war or military coup before February.
That is the scariest part of this. The courts are only a bulwark (for now) if their rulings are respected by agencies. That changes and it's a free for all.
So, I mean, what's the next step? If the DHS doesn't abide by the court's decision, who enforces that? Who should we be putting pressure on now?
"John Marshall has made his decision, now let him enforce it."
Not to mention that he can start appointing people to the courts. So soon....
I'm tempted to just make a sockpuppet Twitter account and correct assholes' grammar. I know it would accomplish nothing, but it's something I can do! And it would make me feel better.
I can't seem to wear colors anymore, and I actually bought a whole bunch of black clothes, because everytime I go to put on one of my colorful joyful dresses, I just can't.
Very Wishverse. I am wearing more greys and blacks myself, although some days I actively choose to dress optimistically
So, I mean, what's the next step? If the DHS doesn't abide by the court's decision, who enforces that?
Can the whole administration be impeached? Checks and balances gotta happen somehow. Right?
