Like nonfiction books? I'd say the Anna Pigeon mystery series each set in a different national park is amazing (by Nevada Barr)
Since the stereo in my car has finally died I got myself a new one. It's going to give me CD, USB, Bluetooth, in-dash GPS, and a backup camera. Should be an interesting installation job.

I wrapped my presents, so I'm in good shape to work -- well, be at the office -- most of the day tomorrow, then final grocery shopping, cleaning at my mom's, and making the buche de noel before the family arrives at 1 on Saturday.
I got all the presents wrapped, except for Tim's dad's present, which is a cordless beard trimmer that Tim wants to pre-charge before he wraps it. I feel like a badass. Now all I have to do is bake some pies Saturday morning and then the whirlwind of family all weekend long.
I am OFF WORK until Tuesday. WHOO HOO!
of course no plans. I will be cleaning the house.
I don't have to work until Tuesday! I'm going to the movies with my sister tomorrow, and then we're decorating sugar cookies tomorrow evening.
I think this is going to be a somewhat sad Christmas. Dad is declining rapidly, and I'm not sure we can safely take him out of the ALF for Christmas day. We'll have to see.

Terry Tempest Williams just published a collection of essays about the National Parks a few months ago, timed to the 100th anniversary of the NPS. I got it, haven't read too much of it yet. But she's marvelous, and it's a lovely book.
Let me just say that French Raclette is a terrific cheese to put in a grilled ham and cheese sandwich. A fucking terrific cheese. But I'm going to need to get a cheese wire to cut it properly.
