I wrapped my presents, so I'm in good shape to work -- well, be at the office -- most of the day tomorrow, then final grocery shopping, cleaning at my mom's, and making the buche de noel before the family arrives at 1 on Saturday.

I got all the presents wrapped, except for Tim's dad's present, which is a cordless beard trimmer that Tim wants to pre-charge before he wraps it. I feel like a badass. Now all I have to do is bake some pies Saturday morning and then the whirlwind of family all weekend long.
I am OFF WORK until Tuesday. WHOO HOO!
of course no plans. I will be cleaning the house.
I don't have to work until Tuesday! I'm going to the movies with my sister tomorrow, and then we're decorating sugar cookies tomorrow evening.
I think this is going to be a somewhat sad Christmas. Dad is declining rapidly, and I'm not sure we can safely take him out of the ALF for Christmas day. We'll have to see.
Hey, does anybody know of any great books about US National Parks?
Terry Tempest Williams just published a collection of essays about the National Parks a few months ago, timed to the 100th anniversary of the NPS. I got it, haven't read too much of it yet. But she's marvelous, and it's a lovely book.
Let me just say that French Raclette is a terrific cheese to put in a grilled ham and cheese sandwich. A fucking terrific cheese. But I'm going to need to get a cheese wire to cut it properly.
I'm so sorry, Consuela, that has got to be hard
Connie, raclette is a perfect cheese for melting, so yes
I have to be at work at 9am tomorrow. Ick. I am not a morning person. Who wrote that schedule?!?
Oh right, that would be me.
And, right on schedule, my usual pre-travel insomnia kicked in. I love flying. I love seeing my family. Yet the night before flying up to see them I always have trouble falling and staying asleep. Oh, well. Time for a nice long breakfast and cat cuddles, at least.
Im sorry, Consuela. That's hard to watch in loved ones.
I hope you and your family have a good Christmas, Consuela.
I need to wrap presents today while Miss K is at school. My DH decided he was going into the office today (something that only happens maybe once a month). Thus, all the clothes she's getting are going to be from Daddy, and toys will be from Santa and Mom.
