I don't have to work until Tuesday! I'm going to the movies with my sister tomorrow, and then we're decorating sugar cookies tomorrow evening.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I think this is going to be a somewhat sad Christmas. Dad is declining rapidly, and I'm not sure we can safely take him out of the ALF for Christmas day. We'll have to see.

Hey, does anybody know of any great books about US National Parks?

Terry Tempest Williams just published a collection of essays about the National Parks a few months ago, timed to the 100th anniversary of the NPS. I got it, haven't read too much of it yet. But she's marvelous, and it's a lovely book.

Let me just say that French Raclette is a terrific cheese to put in a grilled ham and cheese sandwich. A fucking terrific cheese. But I'm going to need to get a cheese wire to cut it properly.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I'm so sorry, Consuela, that has got to be hard

Connie, raclette is a perfect cheese for melting, so yes

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

I have to be at work at 9am tomorrow. Ick. I am not a morning person. Who wrote that schedule?!?

Oh right, that would be me.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

And, right on schedule, my usual pre-travel insomnia kicked in. I love flying. I love seeing my family. Yet the night before flying up to see them I always have trouble falling and staying asleep. Oh, well. Time for a nice long breakfast and cat cuddles, at least.

Im sorry, Consuela. That's hard to watch in loved ones.

I hope you and your family have a good Christmas, Consuela.

I need to wrap presents today while Miss K is at school. My DH decided he was going into the office today (something that only happens maybe once a month). Thus, all the clothes she's getting are going to be from Daddy, and toys will be from Santa and Mom.

I went out to dinner at Olive Garden with my best friend and his Mrs. last night, had a great evening. Today will be napping and watching either The Man from U.N.C.L.E. or Wolfcop on DVD.

Always a lovely family Christmas moment: when your mother feels up your 13 year old daughter. Casper was like , "This is just like Sixteen Candles!"

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That is amazing and horrifying in equal measures. But I'm glad Casper knows Sixteen Candles.
