Mal: Cut it out. Job's not done until we're back on Serenity. Zoe: Sorry, sir. Didn't mean to enjoy the moment.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I totally give local directions by the river. (Convenient because even if you can't see it, "towards the river" is almost always downhill.)

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

River, Lake, Up and Down are the only sensible directions for New Orleans. I mean, you go east to get to the Westbank.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I posted this in the Nonfiction thread BUT, for fans of the Great British Baking Show, the final is this Friday and it starts early. It would be bad to miss the first half hour (but not as bad as missing the last half hour).

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

We are in San Francisco. Despite underestimating the amount of time we needed to get through Dulles (we got to our gate as boarding was going on, and didn't get breakfast) and dealing with a toddler who didn't want to play with his toys or nap, we survived.

brillig

The next week's temperatures are forecast to be below 90. The air is still a foul morass, but it's cooler.

Enjoy, Sheryl! I was thinking about trying to get to WorldCon this year since it's relatively conveniently located, but I think I am too tired to even look into it.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

I grew up in New Orleans. I don't think we believe in straight lines.

Cardinal directions mean nothing to me anymore, since moving to New Orleans.

Bennet, I grew up in Cruces. E= the Organs. I also have no inate sense of cardinal direction. I do have Baltimore figured out, but it is based still on geography.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Cardinal directions mean nothing to me anymore, since moving to New Orleans.

Oh, god no. I didn't learn to navigate by direction until...after college, I think.

Sarameg, I don't know about you, but even after all these years away from El Paso, I'm still much more comfortable navigating by mountains or other geographical landmarks. Even in new places, I want something I can see in the distance to work with.
