Those are probably breakout sessions.
It is really difficult to do a self evaluation with the HS summer theatre program rehearsing right outside my office door. Y'know, on top of the don't-wanna that was already there.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

I think I know the answer here, but I am going to talk it out in this post because you all will call me on bullshit and also I just need to dump (again, always, thank you).
mac's car has not started since last Friday. Friend and friend's dad apparently tried jumping it and hooking the battery up to one of those box chargers. Both of those things in the past have got it started and then it had no issues for 3 weeks. I have a hybrid and they do not suggest trying to jump a car with one.
I've looked up videos on things to try and also how to get out the battery (it is a 2002 PT cruiser and the battery is kinda buried and covered up, so it's not like just a pull out the battery, get it tested, drop a new one in) and I told him I would work with him on trying to fix it or figure it out tonight if he would help. He won't.
ok - so it's not his car, it's my car that he had to raise $$ for because he wrecked the first one. I never had to fix the car my parents let me drive, and they kept it in working order so I would have one.
I need to just go out there and try to figure this out on my own, right? I at least need to get it started to get it to the mechanic. Being mad at him is just me being mad at him for something I would not have wanted to do as a teenager either and I would not have been expected to. My dad knew enough to work on cars and I probably am wanting his help because I have no idea.
right?
right.
drinking water then heading out with computer and youtube videos.
The worst thing about being away for a while and coming back is feeling the need to at least skim all the posts I missed and there's always like 700 of them.
Dana, congrats to your DH on the job!
nothing fits him. he has unrealistic expectations and illusions of grandeur. He has never studied or worked hard. He blows through money. He has a car not starting right now and refuses to even help me try to figure out what it might be. He does nothing to help around the house, only sees his grandparents when I force him to and bucks any and all attempts to prep him for what is awaiting him in 12 months.
msbelle, this sounds exactly like my BFF's daughter, except she's almost 21 years old. Her mother is about to go insane. And yeah, I think you've got to fix that car yourself, if you want him to ever leave the house on his own again. Especially since he can grumble that it's not even HIS car.
Gud, your wife is a *counselor*? Holy crap. Maybe her business isn't taking off because she's really bad at being empathetic. I hope you will be able to go to therapy and learn to take care of yourself. You deserve to be loved and treated well. You really do. I suspect you're thinking, 'Well, they're kind but they don't really know me, my wife does' -- and I am here to tell you, we see who you are by what you do, and we see who she is by what she does. "By their actions you shall know them", right? You give every bit of your energy and time to your wife and your kids, a shitty person doesn't give anyone anything. Your wife treats you badly and there is no excuse for it, not for all of this over all these years. She is the one behaving shittily, not you. I hope that therapy will be able to help you see this situation more clearly, and help you change it.
In Me news, I bought a new car. The Hyundai was good but I finally had to admit that it was too small and low for me and too hard to get into and out of, with the messed-up ankle. So I asked the saleslady at the dealer to look for a car meeting my specifications, and it only took her a week to find one. It's a light blue 2014 Chevy Equinox with only 46,000 miles on it, it's beautiful and comfortable and it's mine. His name is Blue, like the velociraptor.
Timelies all!
Today we went to Hyde Park. House tour in the morning, museum/ library in the afternoon. Mr. S was in the kids' camp at the resort. It runs 9:30-12:30 and 2:00 - 5:00, so outside trips are limited in time.
msbelle, are you a AAA member? I think I had a friend whose battery died and they brought a new one to her. If it's the battery.
Wish I was close enough to help, msbelle. If you get the battery out, you can have it tested at an auto parts store for free.
Since it couldn't be jump started, it's most likely a bad battery. Could be the starter, but that's a lot less likely.
If not AAA, does your insurance have roadside assistance? I've had more than one battery replaced by roadside assistance.
Make sure you wear some eye protection if you remove/replace the battery yourself. There is a slight change of a minor explosion, almost never happens, but eye protection is still a good idea.
Sounds like you have sussed it out, msbelle.
Hi, Zen! Yay new car for good reason!
So, on my way home I noticed that I could see 4 helicopters at once, which is unusual (typical number of helicopters that I see in a day would be zero, more than one at a time is Something). Just got a Nicole text that there are evacuations due to grass fire. Not super close to me, but I guess I am under an alert. I just hope they get it managed soon.
6pm - too early to just go to bed? That's not being alert, but I'm tired.
