Aww yay sj!

I went to the women's soccer game last night, much fun—it was our big rivals Portland, and the stadium was more packed than usual (still just under 5k fans but whatever) and we won with a goal in the 89th minute! That said, most of the game their goalkeeper was on fire, she's good.

Today, brunch with friends, farming out the almond cake I made yesterday so I don't eat it all, a little cleaning and meal-prep, and deciding if I want to try to push the clarity with the girl I hung out with yesterday. Like, i think she just wants to be friends? And if that's the case, and she has decided that, I'd rather know. But if she hasn't and is just a slow mover I don't want to push it. Hm.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

No A/C here. The front window is shaded and I have ceiling fans. I'm coping by not doing the cleaning I had intended to do and generally being lazy, nursing my cold. The big difference is that the cats can't be as cuddly as they're used to. Yesterday Gilda kept getting on me and then just standing there because it was too hot to lay down. Today isn't quite as hot. Current heat index is 97. Yesterday was 103.

msbelle, have there been fireworks? That could make the pups nervous.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

We have a wall unit AC and a couple window units, which seem to be working for now.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

A/C and laundry are in. Actually, laundry should come out. Next to the farm store for berries etc.

Don't tell anyone, but I think the answer for when to shower today might be never.

TCG took ltc to the park. I doubt they'll last too long in this heat. So, I'm going to head to bed with a book while I still can.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

I know I'll pay for this later but the furnace (thermostat set at 65F) was running in my house when I woke up yesterday, and the high made it all the way to 69F. Today's high is supposed to be 65F. The forecast says the fourth will get all the way up to 77 before dropping back down to low 70s and mid to high 60s.

Not forgetting that my house gets full morning sun on front facade and windows, has no shade or insulation to speak of, and in 85 degree heat is a hotbox that doesn't cool off before dawn.

I sympathize with the heat sufferers, and I'm very grateful it's passed us by so far.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Seems cooler here today than yesterday, but I'm going into the city for a spa day with friends. Can't figure out what kind of jacket to bring for later.

I have hiked, done pushups and crunches, vacuumed, cleaned the kitchen, and folded laundry. That's enough for the day, right?

Thank you for your protest story, Andi. I'm not being a good activist, other than giving money. Really should have gone to the protest yesterday, but instead I did laundry and made tapioca pudding and watched Steven Universe.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I have done a barely adequate job of painting my toes, now on to baking.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

The heat index here is 105. Fortunately I got to spend 4 hours of today in an air-conditioned car dropping the kids off at camp (where there is no AC, but it's up in the mountains and there's a lake to jump in), and now am back in my extremely quiet air-conditioned house. TOO quiet.

Trying to decide if I want to grill tonight or just eat ice cream for dinner, because there is no way in hell I am turning on the oven.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

103 degrees F here. This is ridiculous, I want to speak to a manager.
