That makes literally no sense.

I fixed the typo. I meant "I thought", not "I though".

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

That makes literally no sense.

No, the part that makes no sense is that she got angry at you for bringing home food for her children and for yourself. What kind of abusive psychopath gets angry when their spouse feeds their children?

I wish you were going to therapy for this, Gud. I really do. And I think your kids need therapy as well. I was raised by an abusive mother, and it fucked me up big time. Therapy is helping a lot, though. And it would be a kindness to get your kids into therapy. Because, yeah, your wife is abusive as hell.

I'm not pretending it's an easy situation to fix, because it's not. And my heart breaks for you and your kids. But I'll be totally blunt, here: she is damaging your kids. She absolutely is. And she's damaging you.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Correct. That is what I meant.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

The ac is now fixed. Soon we will go to lunch, then to Carters and the comic book shop.

Our wings are not tired.

^^^ Everything Steph said. I've been married a total of 45 years, and that is not how spouses treat each other. The kids are going to think it is normal behavior, and it isn't.

Mother's Day plan is coming together. Tonight the kids are taking us, and Tate's parents, out for Thai. Then tomorrow I am having my friend that lost her mom a couple months ago and others over for brunch. Friend is vegan so menu is:

Mimosas - lots of mimosas
Hummus toast (they don't like avocado!, why do I even talk to them?)
Baked beans on toast
no flour Pumpkin muffins (oats and stuff in them)
Brownies

Booze, a couple savery options, a couple sweet options. I can manage this. Alas it is going to be storming all day so inside brunch.

Gud, I agree with everything Steph said. I want you and your kids to be happy, and learn that your wife's treatment of you isn't how a marriage or partnership should be.

but I would lose my goddamn mind if all I could eat was meat and cheese, with a handful of salad for variation. Also, that sounds like a recipe for nutritional deficiencies.

That is the nutty hardcore version of ketogenic, which I can't just do and raise my eyebrows at. I eat a lot of veggies (roasted cauliflower, om nom nom) and berries along with my meat and cheese.

Looks like my daughter's car stereo is working now. Trouble was the harness wiring which I paid to have pre-done. Ending up wiring it myself anyways after a bunch of extra hassle. At least I didn't pay much for that.

My mom is having a book launch tomorrow, so I just made cupcakes for that, and then she asked me to take her out to dinner tomorrow, so I made reservations for that. Phew.

brillig

Watching the British Who Do You Think You Are? One episode has the comedian Ruby Wax, who discovers that the reason her parents were so volatile and abusive were because they barely got out of Austria before the Holocaust, they weren't able to get family out, and her mother suffered from severe heredity mental issues that Ruby herself suffers from. As she said "One conversation where my mother told me just a little of this would have re-written my entire life." She just thought her parents were horrible people, not people who had suffered horrors.
