I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

The joys of producing a help build for a software release while working against the clock for not only the deadline but my coworker's vacation that starts tomorrow and also she had to pack tonight so she left early and this is the third 12-hour day in a row which I know is not unusual for some of you but it's really too much for me and my head hurts and I was fixing mistakes by manually editing HTML and PDF files and I'm hungry but it's really too late for dinner.

Woot, the final build just finished checking in. To hell with you, work computer.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Ugh, Dana. That sounds terrible.

Y'all. Another small fucking lesbian world story:

So I met this girl a while back through dancing. Call her K. She was living in atlanta but visited seattle and I introduced myself. She and her wife ended up moving up here a year or so ago, and I see them occasionally. Tonight she and I were talking and she mentioned that her wife went to a particular women's college. I asked when she graduated, and said we probably knew people in common—even though she graduated five years after me and my friends did.

So we brainstormed a second...and I mentioned one person from there who id heard was living out here. Yeah. Turns out my old roommate's gf from 2001 is married to K's wife's ex girlfriend. Yep. AND I probably met her wife back then (because I did meet the exgf at that point, and that's around when they were dating). Even though I didn't go there, know all of two people from that era, and never lived in the same city as any of them until K and her wife moved here a year ago.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

That sounds miserable, Dana.

It's 7:23 am right now, and I've been working since 4. Which isn't uncommon for many, but it's not a regular thing for me. And I'm getting pretty spacy.

Our wings are not tired.

Not envious of your day, Dana.

Now the next time I see one of my lesbian friends I really want to ask if they know my friend meara!

I have an overabundant crop of coconuts this year so I tossed some in the processor then added it to my oatmeal with a bunch of fresh blueberries. Crunchy yumminess! I am eating oatmeal every day for a month before my physical in hopes that I won't get the side eye from my PCP over my cholesterol.

Sorry, Dana. Being in the software biz, I know about crunch time and those 80 hour weeks. Luckily, I haven't had to pull any of those in a long time. When I worked for a really small company with will big clients (Microsoft, Lotus, IBM, Adobe, etc...) I had to pull some 24-hour days and I don't think I could physically do that now. Anyhow, it sucks and I'm sorry you have to deal with it.

Looks like it's going to be a bad weekend. I have a million things to do and I really pissed off my wife with what I did last night. When I got home from work she told me she had gotten stuff for dinner from the grocery store to make Tacos and Hamburger Helper for dinner. (My daughter doesn't eat tacos so I usually make a secondary dinner when I cook tacos). However, she said she didn't really want either. Being tired after a busy day at work, I suggested carry-out and she agreed. I thought I said "How about I get carry-out?" but I must have said "How about I get you carry-out?" So when I got back with food for everybody she let me have it big time. Behind her, my daughter even had a "holy shit is she angry" look.

Things don't seem much better today on that front, but she just left so at least I an listen to something while I do some cleaning. I need to do cleaning (that's a long list by itself), yard work, fix a loose connection with my daughter's car stereo, help out my FIL with some computer stuff, address a couple of things on my wife's website, do some work for work (critical project and all that), and, of course, make Tacos tonight. I'd really like to work on the beta board too, but I don't think I can get to it this weekend especially with tomorrow being mother's day and stuff.

Wow that turned out to be a long post. Sorry for the rambling. Don't really have anybody else to talk to though.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I though I said "How about I get carry-out?" but I must have said "How about I get you carry-out?" So when I got back with food for everybody she let me have it big time.

That makes literally no sense.

Also, to the long-hours-workers: don't apologize for hating that, either! It is totally normal to hate that!! Even if other people also do it!

This has been Jesse with, You can feel bad about things that are bad!

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I have an overabundant crop of coconuts this year

I just boggle at you folks who live in warm climates who have actual coconut trees and/or avocado trees and/or citrus trees and just trot on out to the backyard to grab the produce that I pay an assload at the grocery store for. The United States is too damn big and has too many temperature zones.

I am eating oatmeal every day for a month before my physical in hopes that I won't get the side eye from my PCP over my cholesterol.

Oatmeal really brought my cholesterol down.

I have a friend who's eating a ketogenic diet for weight loss, and she's been pretty successful and she said her cholesterol came way down, but when I asked her what she eats, it's literally meat, cheese, heavy cream, and "a few leaves" (which I guess is salad greens). I mean, no other veggies? No fruit? I get that cutting down on starchy carbs can be helpful to some people, but I would lose my goddamn mind if all I could eat was meat and cheese, with a handful of salad for variation. Also, that sounds like a recipe for nutritional deficiencies.

That makes literally no sense.

I fixed the typo. I meant "I thought", not "I though".
