Natter 75: More Than a Million Natters Served
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
That is a good metaphor.
I am behind on work because of slaking online and 4 days off the last 2 weeks, but goddamn if half of what I need to do is not cleaning up mistakes by others that were mostly avoidable.
I got a little pissy about it via group wide email this morning by basically saying, can ANYONE, just maybe check things first?
And I also haven't eaten yet this morning, so I am about to rip the next person's head off who does something stupid that impacts me.
Yeah, that's a good metaphor.
::shoves food through series of tubes for msbelle::
That is a good metaphor!!
In retrospect, going to an Indian restaurant for lunch on Diwali wasn't the best idea, though fortunately they were only crowded, rather than mobbed. In my defense, I thought Diwali was a couple of days ago.
In a meeting run by someone who can't run a meeting, with people who cannot follow directions. And Loki is sitting on my chest.
In my defense, I thought Diwali was a couple of days ago.
Apparently it's a 5-day thing! And the start date can be a day off between different regions -- it started today in South India and Sri Lanka but yesterday in North India and Nepal. And in Nepal, day 2 is dedicated to dogs: [link] . Also, I'm missing my coworker's ridiculously good annual Diwali treats by working at home today. (Guess which of these fun Diwali facts didn't come straight from wikipedia)
You're still hit by the bus!
And you'll get hit by the train, yet again and again,
You'll get hit by the Big Angst Train
Oh your hearts will be broken, and your spirits stolen,
You'll get hit by the Big Angst Train.
(I tried changing it to "hit by the bus," but it just
didn't have the same, er, impact.
I feel lost today. I left home without my phone. I am now more likely to finish my book on the train ride home though, if I can stay awake.
It's a great metaphor.
Y'all, I'm sure at some point I will be able to post about other stuff again, and thank you for bearing with me here.
There is no bearing with you. There is only supporting our friend. There is no timetable anyone needs to follow here.
Me too, -t, and the idea of dealing with the chaos I can mitigate--the state of my house--is enough to put me on the couch in "not gonna" mode.
msbelle, I hope you've had food by now.
sarameg, at least one of those things is good? Unless Loki has reached the point of unwittingly performing chest compressions by simply sitting on your chest.
Slight meara
Jesse – I'm sorry for your loss. It IS always sudden.
Dana – congrats and the merit raise and ugh on the acquisition. I hope the transition is as smooth as possible. We are mid-stream of being acquired. They expect to have things finalized in the next month or so and then we officially start the transition, though things are already bubbling.
Amyth – I'm hoping things are better and you find a great new ortho. Self-care is SO important when things are spinning out of control (I'm trying hard to take my own advice).
-t and I got to see Hippocampus tonight!
Jealous. I also miss being able to see Buffistas on the regular.
I love vote by mail. Got my ballot yesterday, filled it out, mailed it out today. I enjoy voting in my underwear. Now if there was only an app I could activate that would erase all the political ads and signage and mailings from my life now.
Oh my giddy aunt, YES. I got my ballot, need to fill it out and mail it. And PLEASE, oh PLEASE stop of the ads and crap.
I finally got my sprinklers blown out and talked with the guy about the landscaping changes I want to make to my back yard and his suggestions for updating those sprinklers. Full. Copper, Repipe. Apparently all my sprinkler lines are PVC which is prone to shatter here. Thankfully nothing is currently busted and I have time to save up for the repiping, but dang.
