So my coworker found a stray cat this morning, and is going to take it to the shelter, but should I take it home instead???

It's good to see you, Nilly! Gamar hatimah tovah.
Jesse, have you met the cat? Did you like it? Did it like you? If all of these are "yes" then I'm firmly in the camp of "take the kitty home".
I have not met the cat. It is currently at my coworker's house, and if she brings it here, I'm pretty much committed, I guess.
I've always had good luck keeping cats my coworkers (or customers) found. FWTW.
If you bring it home and it's just not going to work for you to keep it for whatever reason, you can bring it to the shelter, right?
I think of you're asking the question the answer is yes, Jesse. And, what -t said.
Greetings from Urgent Care!
I have hearing loss in my left ear, (I hope) due to ear wax. My PCP couldn't fit me in until Tuesday, but I didn't want to wait that long, because, you know, hearing loss, so here I am.
Oh dear, Tom! I hope they can fix you right up.

True, true!

Also true. I keep thinking, "Why do all my friends just have cats drop in their lap?? I would take a cat that falls in my lap!" So I guess I will take this cat and see how it goes!
I would take a cat that falls in my lap!
It's falling in your lap after bouncing into a previous lap.
Yay, cat!
Yikes, Tom. I hope it is an easy fix.
Unrelatedly, bp is 150 over 90. Dang.
