Tara: Do you have any books on robots? Giles: Oh, yes, dozens. There's a lot of research to be done in order to--no, I'm lying. Haven't got squat. I just like watching Xander squirm.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Polar bearnados is a delightful turn of phrase.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Definitely not going to start eating 3 eggs every morning.

I'm pre-emptively stressing a little about the work thing because we (well, definitely I am and I feel pretty confident in including my department and I might include the majority of Operations) are already overworked and underpaid and heading into our busy season. Ah, well, out of my hands.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Sorry about the work crap, -t. There seems to be more work crap floating around these days.

Oh, I got the apartment! Finally got all my ducks in a row for the move and new job. Maybe I can relax now--I feel like I've been under constant stress these last 9 days.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Congratulations, tommyrot! I think you should have a beverage.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Completely random things I learned today: The Nazis once declared a particular font to be a Jewish conspiracy. [link]

Regarding and calling the so called gothic typeface as a German typeface is wrong. In fact, the gothic typeface consists of Jew-letters from Schwabach. Like they later gained control of the newspapers, the Jews living in Germany had seized control over the printing shops at introduction of the printing press, so that the Schwabacher Jew-letters were heavily introduced in Germany.

Yay tommyrot!

Wow, Hil. That's pretty random.

Uhg, sorry about the work drama, -t.

Can't decide if I dislike an interrupted swim or misreading a storm and skipping a swim more. Otoh, I remedied the sluggish toilet issue that manifested this morning.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

the Jews living in Germany had seized control over the printing shops at introduction of the printing press

Were people supposed to believe that the printing shops in Germany weren't run by members of the Jewish community before the introduction of the printing press? The culture has a millennia-old tradition of scholars and scribes, exactly the people who would have been copying books by hand as their trade!

Our wings are not tired.

Tommyrot, so good to hear you get to breathe easier now. Lot of stress for too long.

Good news: got step-dad moved to rehab today. He is healing beautifully. Bad news: big ass beast storm pointed at peoples including my immediate family. I think my biggest fear is it going straight through the Florida Keys. It could completely destroy them, like forever. And always I worry about the island people because they always talk about how they are used to it, but really death and misery isn't something you get used to. DH and son boarded up my house today. Waiting more news before they decide on evacuation, but they won't stay if it is going to hit us. First time in 37 years we have planned evacuation, including when Andrew hit.

Glad for good stepdad news, Laura!
