Uhg, sorry about the work drama, -t.
Can't decide if I dislike an interrupted swim or misreading a storm and skipping a swim more. Otoh, I remedied the sluggish toilet issue that manifested this morning.

the Jews living in Germany had seized control over the printing shops at introduction of the printing press
Were people supposed to believe that the printing shops in Germany weren't run by members of the Jewish community before the introduction of the printing press? The culture has a millennia-old tradition of scholars and scribes, exactly the people who would have been copying books by hand as their trade!
Tommyrot, so good to hear you get to breathe easier now. Lot of stress for too long.
Good news: got step-dad moved to rehab today. He is healing beautifully. Bad news: big ass beast storm pointed at peoples including my immediate family. I think my biggest fear is it going straight through the Florida Keys. It could completely destroy them, like forever. And always I worry about the island people because they always talk about how they are used to it, but really death and misery isn't something you get used to. DH and son boarded up my house today. Waiting more news before they decide on evacuation, but they won't stay if it is going to hit us. First time in 37 years we have planned evacuation, including when Andrew hit.
Glad for good stepdad news, Laura!
Booze is my friend.
Just rewatched Wonder Woman. Now for some reason I'm rewatching Stranger Things for some reason.
ETA: I'm going to leave that post the way it is.
-t, I'm sorry for the work insanity.
Good news for your stepdad, Laura.
I said this elsewhere, but if anyone wants to evacuate we have room for you and your pets. Just show up if it comes down to it.
Laura, I'm glad they plan to evacuate. Just saw that a nhc scientist evac'd his *cat*, even as he has to stay to monitor the storm. That's telling.
I've got room too, though the roof might leak (but not over the bed.)
Thanks, y'all. I am doing super great, almost all the time, I swear. It's just sometimes super hard. So while I was in the throes of it, I started reaching out to some of my support network, and you guys are a big part of it.
There was a specific thing with the former SO that triggered the meltdown, but the other big thing is, I just hit my birthday, and I think milestones/holidays are tough in transition. But it's my Year of the Answer now! I aim to make it an excellent one.
Yeah, totally with you all on the work thing. I have a really great boss, and I was all avoidy and dreading communication, and she was super perceptive and empathetic. So I needn't have fussed.
Was thinking about your fam, Laura, and some of my other FL peeps. I hope everybody's ok.
Lots of love to you, Liese.
I'm glad everything worked out, Tommyrot!
Laura, wishing for safety for your family. I'm thinking a lot about everyone in Irma's path.
I was supposed to fly to Fort Lauderdale Saturday morning for my niece's baby shower, which she is having to reschedule. I'm worried about her--7 mos. pregnant, right in the path of the storm. I offered my place to her and her DH, but they are on the fence about evacuating.
