Inara: I think she looks adorable. Mal: Yeah, but I never said it.

My sister unfriended our brother this morning. I'm contemplating doing the same (I already have him hidden from my newsfeed)

I just deleted my links to Daily Kos and 538. The "His fault!" "Her fault!" "Their fault!" "Your fault!" thing is not helpful.

I wish I could just go somewhere to get flensed but none of the whaling ships near me take Medicare.

Oh, I wanted to thank Steph for posting what Nilly said. I try to keep in mind that history is full of terrible times that people fought and survived. What Nilly wrote was a helpful addendum to that and good to keep in mind.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

If I may, from Tumblr,

A message from George Takei: I am addressing this to all who voted to defeat Donald Trump and what he represents. We may not have prevailed, but we must not despair.

Many of you are, like me, in a state of shock. This does not feel like the America you love and honor. We are in uncharted waters. In times like these we must reaffirm the values we cherish and have fought for: equality, justice, the care of the planet. We must stand up defiantly to any dark or devisive acts, and look out for the most vulnerable among us. It is more important than ever.

Within our hearts we know the society we wish to live in. No one can take that vision from us. We are each of us keepers of that promise. This country has seen wars and grave injustices, slavery and even civil war in its past. Yet we found our way through.

Hold your loved ones close. Tell them that it is in times of sadness and in the toughest of days where we often find our true mettle.

Also from Tumblr: Do not be daunted by the enormity of the world's grief. Do justly, now. Love mercy, now. Walk humbly, now. You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it.

Or to quote U.S. Grant: "Retreat? No. I propose to attack at daylight and whip them."

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Pence seems less likely to get us into a global war, I guess? Small comfort.

That's Trump's arena. Pence will focus on The Handmaid's Tale.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Takei... Takei I can listen to.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

I'm kind of in this camp now.

Her message to the little girls has me sobbing.

Yup. That was when I lost it, too. I made Luna listen.

FB is just making me depressed because I'm only using the crying icon.

I literally just used that over and over and over until I just couldn't take it anymore and closed FB.

Thanks for all the suggestions for the playlist. I'll post a link when we finish.
