I realize I am not a typical dater on these online places, but I am floored by people on a regular basis.
- entire "about me" section a list of what they are looking for. "A woman who is honest, caring, open-hearted......."
- A million opening sentences of "I am a great nice guy" or variant therefore. Well, if you don't say yourself. Not for nothing, but that is a useless sentence.
- a string of words of things they like or like to do, no punctuation, just list of words.

So many profiles are so generic. It's really exhausting. Everyone likes the outdoors, travel, laughing. Blah. The word "gentleman" is a total red flag for me.

Jeez, y'all are not making me any more eager to date. Disclaimer: that would take a lot at this point. Point is, I feel more justified in my antipathy to the whole process, I guess. But good luck to those of you out there looking for love or whatever! I really am staggeringly optimistic in my hopes for happiness for people who aren't me.
Not that I can't be happy, but I doubt my happiness involves dating.
