this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I used to say, back around 2000-2008, that the only person I hated was George W. Bush.

That wasn't hate. What I felt for him pales in comparison to how I feel about Trump and the GOP-led Congress, especially McConnell and Ryan.

Our wings are not tired.

I am quite sure he is having tantrums and calling names, which surely will further contribute to the leaking sieve that the White House has become.

Oh I was devastated over the Bush presidency, but I still felt that the Bush family had some concept of what public service meant. Maybe didn't put it before personal benefit all the time, but at least knew what it meant. The Trump family is all themselves all the time with no notion of what good of the country might possible mean. And no interest in finding out.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Trump makes George W. Bush look like a statesman. That, if nothing else, would make me despise 45. Because I nursed a level of contempt for the Shrub in Chief that could be seen from the ISS.

However, I'm beginning to cherish Trump's staggering levels of incompetence, because a competent leader might be able to push some of the Republicans' vile initiatives through. Stay dolt, ponyboy. Stay dolt.

I've felt from the start his incompetence is the only thing that might save us. Though saving is too strong a word. Holding back utter catastrophe, maybe.

Coding and Sleeping

I'm finding all of this really scary. I feel like our institutions are much more fragile than I thought and that right-wing media can turn into government propaganda machine and completely shape the worldview of a huge segment of the population. Trump is an incompetent idiot who's only agenda is self-aggrandizement, but the thought of savvy person with a dark agenda in his position is so terrifying.

Stupid weather is doing that stupid thing again at the same stupid time.

Thrive to spite them

I'm worried about what McConnell will do with the tax reform that is planned. They need a win. They also need to punish those who defied them.

I read that Trump was willing to put up his own money against GOP incumbent running for re election.Flake I think because he has been so vocal in his criticism of Trump

Ugh. Our prosecutor opted to not bring charges against Ray Tensing a third time for killing Sam Dubose. I'm not surprised, because if there were a third trial, I think it would have had a hung jury again. But I am disappointed in this whole damn system.

The day Trump puts up his own money for lunch will be a first. Though vindictiveness does seem to be a driving force in his character so who knows.
