Elseweb, one super-conservative bro just went on a whole long self-justifying rant about the fact that he's not mad because they cast a woman! Really! He's super super angry about the fact that the War Doctor broke the regeneration rules and they should never have regenerated again at all!
Second non-bro dude fabulously shut him down with
well, true fans of doctor who believe he should have never regenerated to begin with, the lore was added after the fact. technically, if you stick to the original storyline, the Doctor is still William Hartnell. He's 109, but only in human years.
(both dudes are ex-coworkers of mine who I quite like aside for the politics on #1. But I'm posting here because unlike facebook there is ZERO overlap.)
Postscript to the "What is your Geek fandom" incident: the incident was on a post by a friend of mine. A mutual FB acquaintance of mine and the friend just berated the two of us -- not Creepy Fanboy -- for (I am not making this up) "acting like Gamergaters." Because...we thought Creepy Fanboy went too far by creeping on my timeline? Also, she doesn't even know Creepy Fanboy, she just thinks that Friend and I were "acting like Gamergaters." I was too busy bitching about Creepy Fanboy to dox him, so I have no idea what she's talking about.
I don't even know. For real. Acquaintance was all "I hate to lose longtime friends over this behavior!!!" (She truly is barely an acquaintance in my mind, and my reaction -- internally -- was "...buh? Okay, then." I didn't actually reply to her dramatic pronouncement, because, what the shit, lady.)
People are insane.
the fuck does that even mean in this context, "acting like Gamergaters"?
I mean, if anything, Creepy Fanboy is, what with the hunting people down on their own timelines. But still, wtf, rando person.

That was my exact response (internally). Like I said, she's barely an acquaintance, and so I have no idea what goes on in her head or what she means (or thinks she means) by "acting like Gamergaters", and if she feels like she needs to end our "longtime friendship" (wha?), then far be it from me to stop her.
People are SO weird.

Ooooh, can we take bets on how long the flounce lasts before she reluctantly returns, supported by the lurkers in email?
Gamergator was a dual-type Water/Ground Pokémon. It was cut from the final version of the game. - Gamergators are usually solitary creatures. They can be dragged into social issues when it starts to concern them.
Whoa, just got a audio emergency alert that was not a test (severe thunderstorm alert...in counties not mine.)
Root canal is done. I get the filling put on Thursday. Injection sites are sore as is my gum where the clampy thing they put on the tooth kinda gouged it up, so I expect it'll be back to normal in a few days.
Hooray, completed root canal!
Recovery~ma, sarameg
So, Steph's Geek Cred requiring documentation made me think of how Doctor Who was arguably my first fandom. I even went to a meeting of a fan club of some sort at the library, but found it intensely uncomfortable and have kind of shied away from cons and whatnot since. Sort of want to draw some kind of conclusion from that....
