You're nice, and you're funny and you don't smoke, and okay, werewolf, but that's not all the time. I mean, three days out of the month, I'm not much fun to be around, either.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Amy, do you know Budget Bytes? I mostly rely on her for slow-cooker and one-skillet meals, and have yet to be disappointed.

My other current cheap/easy food obsession is sweet potatoes with stuff on top. I've done roast herby chickpeas with tahini, tofu and bok choy with teriyaki, burrito bowls - so far I haven't come across any potential rice/pasta accompaniment that doesn't work equally well on a sweet potato.

I had a lot of unprovoked anxiety dreams and general anxiety after my surgery. A couple weeks, at least. Some was enforced inactivity once the pain was mild, but some...I baked a lot of cookies and walked a lot.

Bit the bullet and bought a 10k btu casement window unit for upstairs. Been saying I'd do so for a while, but finally found one I could pick up locally for less, which is less hassle. They're about $150 more than usual ac of same btu, but will hopefully be a game changer. Most powerful standard unit that fits in that window is 5k, no automation. This will match my bedroom unit, which basically had to cool off my whole house last year.

We just turned on the AC for the first time this year. I cleaned out the filters before and it was disturbing.

Because books.

General anesthesia can definitely alter your moods (and your dreams) for a while after surgery. It'll wear off, though.

Amy, do you know Budget Bytes?

I'll check it out, thanks! (Sadly, though, sweet potatoes are on the list of things neither of the kids will eat.)

Part of my problem is getting home at 6:30-6:45, after closing the store -- which means dishes and more dishes, cleaning, and lots of tiring physical stuff -- and wanting to just collapse. Launching right into making dinner can be tough.

Sara told me she'd like to start cooking more, which could be good, but I'm a little scared of the mess she's going to leave behind.

I haven't put in the ac yet. I should clean the filters on the bedroom unit this weekend.

Also, I really want to tell half my species to fuck off. Not fun or kindly, but you learn from experience.I'm tired.

brillig

I've never had whole-house/apartment AC before, I've always managed with ceiling and floor fans. I have ceiling fans now, and I really don't want to pay for the electricity for AC.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I just made a very adult choice and turned the tv off after two episodes of Twin Peaks instead of staying up all night to watch all the available episodes. It's probably good that streaming wasn't a thing 25 years ago.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

This is why I do a lot of batch cooking -- over a weekend, I can make a bunch of something and then after work all I have to do is heat it up.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Hello, 7AM meeting. My old nemesis.

Steph, I meant to say thanks for letting me know I wasn't necessarily flipping out. But at that point I tried to get to bed early, which failed.

hwæt

Well, that was a not exactly productive ninety minutes of me crying straight through my therapy session.

I suck at this. It's TOO HARD. I'm stymied.
